93 DIS 2.3 swap into 79 bobcat
« on: July 06, 2013, 05:53:50 PM »
Hi everybody, so I'm swapping a DIS setup out of a 93 mustang into my bobcat, I'm wondering if I can delete the dash harness and just use the ECM harnes? Only problem is that I can't find any good schematics for that. Is there a way to do that or do I have to use the dash harness? I don't want to replace all the wiring. Thanks for any help.

you should be able to use the engine harness and just add your own wiring to the other side of a few of the plugs, I did this when installing a 5.0 in my car, there are a couple plugs by the master cylinder and 1 or 2 buy the ecm that need some wires hooked up (at least on the 5.0 engine harness.

here is a pinout of the 93 2.3 ecm (USE AT OWN RISK)

Thanks, I'll look into that. Gonna try n get it started this week sometime.  I like the schematic, where did u find that one? Also I have a 92 ford truck with the 5.0, how hard is it to swap that into the pinto? Just curious in case I wanna try it later on. My main goal is gas mileage, but if you are getting 26 mpg with a 5.0, I might try it!

the truck intake is way to tall to fit in a pinto, the stock mustang one is even slightly to tall, i have spacers on my hood hinges for clearance. One good information site that helped me (mostly 5.0 info) http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/
Also im using for daily driver with the 5 speed its easy to keep the rpm below 2000, with 2.73 rear gears i run about 1600 at 55-60mph

Thank you hurm2006 for your help. The schematic u provided was correct. All the wiring was the same as a 5.0 only I didn't need a few wires on the brown connector by the master cylinder. Car runs great! Haven't driven it yet, just gotta put a power steering pump on it and its ready to roll. After its all said and done, it was a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be and I'm glad I did it!!!

Glad you got it to work, its great how the engine harness is mostly self contained and you only need a few wires to make it work. The reason I did mine was that most people change the intake and slap a carb on and go. I wanted to be different but am glad I did go with the injection as the fuel mileage is great
