Title: 73 pinto doors, grill and bumper
Post by: 1973FordPinto on November 05, 2014, 06:10:38 PM
My 73 pinto was in an accident a few years ago and am now trying to completely restore it.  Need parts and am confused about which parts are interchangeabl e.
Can anyone can tell me what years (71-75)can be used as replacements  for the 73 pinto bumper (thin with small guards and rubber inserts in both bumper and guards )?   Same info needed for the grille and 2 doors.
      Thanks for any help.

Doors can be any year 71-80 but wagon doors only fit wagons. Early doors take a slightly different upper hinge due to bolt spacing but late doors fit using the matching upper hinge.

71-73 bumpers all fit but if you want the exact match to yours then it may take awhile to find it but one will turn up.

71-73 grille is recessed to pop the hood.  74-75 can be used but getting a finger in to pop the hood is tight.

Some nice photos of the difference between the 71-73 and 74-75 grilles.  May be useful to verify what a ebay seller is actually offering.

Keep your broken grill as the fins can be removed and used to repair a new grill with a broken / missing fin. Much easier to find a grill with missing  fins than a perfect one. Easy fix and no body will ever know.

Thanks guys for the valuable info.  Everyone was very helpful.  Have decided to keep the grille and just glue where it was broken.
