Fiberglass Pinto Parts
« on: July 02, 2009, 08:16:26 PM »
Hello all, thought you might be interested in some nice fiberglass for your Pinto. Met a great guy who makes custom fiberglass parts and has started making some nice pieces for Pintos. He currently has 1/4 glass louvers, hoods, (6 lbs!) fenders with functional vents, an awesome front spoiler that replaces the entire lower valance and looks similar to the splitter design on NASCAR. He is also working on rear window louvers for trunk and hatch models that will have a quality aluminum hinge so you can lift it up to clean the glass. He sells these items on e-bay from time to time. You can e-mail him at rodhard69@hotmail.com for more info.
Here are some pics of the quarter louvers and the installation on my '71.
1. Fresh out of the box. You can get them in white or black gel coat depending on if you have a light or dark colored car, makes them easier to paint. He even sanded them!
2. I set them up on the glass for a trial fit. The top, bottom and the curved part fit perfectly. I had to trim them just a little at the front, the rubber in my car was bowed out slightly in the center. I ran masking tape from top to bottom...
3. and used a small grinder to take a little off at a time, trial fitting as I went until they fit all the way around.
If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

They are held in place with 3M moulding tape, (that stuff is super sticky!!) I practiced how I was going to put them on a few times before I peeled the backing off the tape, just to get a feel for it! I was going to paint them blue to match the car but with the black rubber showing on the front and bottom of the glass I thought they would look better black. I like them! ;D ;D What do you all think?

Those look really cool. The black looks pretty bitchin on your car. Im lookin to set my car up similar to yours with the 5.0/T5. I'd like to have the quarter window and hatch louvers if the price isn't too bad.

Unfortunately I cannot get in touch with with the guy I got them from. He does not answer my e-mail. He told me that he sells fiberglass for the Pinto's and other cars on e-bay but I have never seen any on there.  :(

WOW man thas look sweet on your car. I dont know if you ever seen any thing. But it would be awesome to find some after market fiberglass doors. The fenders and quarters arent that hard to fix but the doors can get pretty hard if they are rotted inside the skins around the bottoms. I tell you your car is a beauty. Would like to call you some time when i get done. See if you would be home some weekend so i can drive mine down. would like to have a picture of them setting together, make a great poster for the shop wall.

I'm not sure what happened to this guy. Dropped out of sight soon after I got the louvers. Never saw anything on e-bay and no response to e-mail.
