Hello Group - Working on some mechanical fixes and engine compartment clean up on my 1977 Runabout. I have only 40K original files but my Pinto was in serious need of a brake overhaul on the original brake system and leaky fuel pump. I decided to replace the timing belt, water pump and thermostat and complete carburetor rebuild. I de-greased over 43 years of engine dirt build up and added new belts and hoses. I attached a few pictures f the work in progress. Close but not finished yet.

Very nice looking what did you use to clean up the air filter housing

Thank you so much. I used just used soap and water and some diluted "purple power" cleaner on the air filter snorkel hose. Fro the actual air cleaner housing - I just carefully buffed with polishing compound - I did not go to abrasive because i did not want to change the appearance from the original brushed finish to a too shiny finish. I was very fortunate with the car having low mileage - everything under the hood is original except the battery belts, and radiator hoses. I also replaced the timing belt and water pump for preventive maintenance since the car is over 40 years old.

Got to be the cleanest and prettiest engine compartment I have seen on these boards. Even beats mine by a smidgen! Can't believe those valve and cam covers have not been repainted.

You Did A Great Job!
