1071 Pinto to Disk Brakes

I am converting my 1971 drum brake Pinto to later style Disk Brakes. I already have the disk brake spindles and calipers. I have been searching, but have not found exactly what I need, can I just install later ball joints and tie rod ends to make this work? Also, what about control arm bushings for the '71 arms? Thanks for your help on this.

that's a pretty old pinto 1071...
 
do a search on granada brakes....lots of info
 
do you what to keep 4 lug? ot convert to 5? info standard 9.3 rotors on the early cars or the 10.3? on the later models? lots of selections.

1071, that is old! I have everything for the original Mustang II brakes as well as the wheels, so for now it will stay 4 lug. The '71 Pintos have smaller tie rod ends as well as upper and lower ball joints. Do you know if the Mustang II parts fit on the older control arms? I would be happy if I could just get the thing back on the ground to move it. Thanks for any help

The Mustang II and '74+ Pinto front suspension components are different in almost every dimension from the early Pinto's making swapping parts difficult.  For a straight bolt up, you need a 71-72 disc brake spindle set up.  A '73 will work but you need to fabricate something for the tie rod hole size mismatch.  Once you have early disc brake style spindles, this great thread may help with up grades.

just wondering, but, will 73 tie rod ends thread on to the 71/72 rack?

vonpinto, Sounds like you are on your way to disc brakes, have fun.
 
Srt, From my measurements of old rusty components, the 73 tie rod is larger than the 71-72.  The 73 tie rod appears to be the same diameter as the 74  tie rods, but I have not tried swapping the parts.
