'73 351w swap questions
« on: January 06, 2016, 11:29:06 AM »
alright so I'm new to this forum stuff but I have a 73 with a 351w and i believe its a c4 trans out of a 1969 torino and a 9'' now I'm not questioning how to get it in my dad bought it with it already in it but I'm rebuilding the motor and such cause it sat for 15 years and I'm not going for a full drag car yet I just want to get it on the road and my main question was what front suspension should I use on it cause I'm sure the stock shocks wont hold the engine very well. Thanks

Welcome to the Pinto world! If this were my car, I would set it up this way: Mustang II V8 front springs cut down to desired height, good quality heavy duty shocks (gas or hydraulic). If the engine does not have them yet, I would add aluminum heads and intake also a modern high efficiency alternator (much lighter), and relocate the battery to the trunk (passenger side) as far back as it will fit. Others may have other suggestions,

Try RockAuto,  Sleeper_Pinto. I've gotten a lot of the parts I've needed for my 1975 there. They'll have a lot of the stock 1973 parts for your Pinto, and your V8 drivetrain if you know the year and car they were pulled from. They also have good prices. A lot of parts will also be available at the stores or online, at OReilly and AutoZone, etc.
