Title: '72 Glidden pro stock streeter
Post by: redcaddy on July 02, 2019, 06:08:47 PM
Hi guy's, I'm just starting a new project.

My recent barn find is a '72 coupe, (not a hatch back) It's a chassis car door slammer. mustang II style front suspension 2 X 3 inch main rails, braced Ford 9 inch housing on a 4 link. Updated halo, funny car style full cage, stock hinge doors and factory glass/rubbers.

I've got a bunch of "just got it home" pictures, I'll try to upload for comments. This ain't my first rodeo, I'm a welder fabricator by trade and an engineer by training. There will be a lot of eraser/pencil dust and midnight oil going in to this build, I hope you all will follow along to keep me right side up and on track...

On with the show!

Wow. At first I thought my car got cloned. But yours is a real race car, mine is just a wanna be.

What are your plans for it? Drivetrain?

When Photo Bucket went crazy wanting big money for hosting pictures , I started using IMGUR. Free & works way better than the bucket ever did.

Russ, the short history, all I have, it was built in the late 70's, BBF, ran 7's, mostly an east coast car, never toured AFAIK. got dumbed down for brackets, with a SBF. The whole operation was stolen in the late 80's, recovered a few years later, in pieces, lots missing.
It was bought from the insurance company, trucked to South Florida, re-caged and back halfed with the 9 inch/4 link, By Von, in Brooksville, FL, as you see it now, it was a ladder bar, 10 bolt GM. Will now certify to 6.00, but I don't think she will ever go that quick again. I'm gonna street the old girl, (have title and vin plate) plan is for a small block something, likely with a power adder, perhaps EFI turbo.

I've aged and medicaled out of all my competition licenses, sold all the real racecars, except the footbrake bracket rail pictured, (Yes Virginia, it runs mid 9's and is currently for sale) and have to see if I have one more build left in me.

Just a fun toy fer annoyin' the gray hairs and scarin' the local dogs and small children. Might be a Power tour run left in her...
