went to the drag striip....
« on: October 18, 2010, 10:05:26 AM »
and broke it on the first launch......
im back with not so good news...  was going to make a few passes on the street tires and then a coouple on the dr's..... you have to go through the water box at this track so i didnt have a choice.... got through the box and heated the tires real good.... staged and the last yellow light and i dumped the clutch.... hear a bang and a lot of clanking and vibration..... . oh ****!!! pulled over and pushed the car back out of the track.... by the way on the tiger paws it dead hooked..... really!!! so what happend you ask? when i launched, the leafspring perches that are welded to the axle which locate it on the pins in the springs, crushed and allowed the axle to turn up and hit the bottom of the car along with ripping the driveshaft in two...... so i didnt even get one pass in....... disappointing but okay anyhow.... had a trailor so i got it home without incident..... better luck next time....
ok, know what happened... take a look...

That sucks, but you discovered the weak links there.
I've done that sort of stuff on my other higher powered cars, and now its just a given that I brace up all that stuff right from the start.

It takes no talent at all to tear them up. It's the first thing I learned to do. Sorry to hear you broke it. Patch it up ang go after it again. Let us know how it turns out next time.
