My new 1977 Mercury Bobcat
« on: December 06, 2012, 07:57:10 PM »
I bought this car a week ago.  It is awesome and runs great!

I replaced the oil, plugs, brakes, master cylinder, and shocks.  I sealed the moonroof with sealant and tore out the nasty carpet.

I need seats, dash cap, and carpet.

Can anyone estimate a value for me??  Not that I want to sell.

That looks like a clean car. Black is sharp with all the chrome. Like bbobcat75 said, value is subjective. My '80 Runabout has an extremely rare special order package & once it's finished I'd put a max value of maybe 8K on it. I wouldn't sell it for that since it's one of a kind & I know every nut & bolt personally. That said, I doubt Ebay would bring more than $5500 based on what I see on there.

the bobcats do look the part, just a shame they were not built earlier like the pinto, they would be another level without  the ugly big bumpers on them..   has anyone fitted pinto bumpers to one  ????????

I know this hasn't been replied to in a while but I can't help it. I love Bobcats. I am so close to getting mine all finished up. I love the car in black, though I am normally not a black car fan (even though my Pangra is black). Keep us posted on the work. The car is sharp! Here is mine (wood and front seats are all that's left):

I have many Pintos, I like them....
#1. 1979 Wagon V6 Restored
#2. 1977 Wagon V6 Restored
#3. 1980 Sedan I4 Original
#4. 1974 Pangra Wagon I4 Turbo
#5. 1980 Wagon I4 Restored
#6. 1976 Bobcat Squire Hatchback (Restoring)
...Like i said, I like them.
...and I have 4 Fiats.

All of the featured Bobcats are beauties,... but I like that orange one the best!  ;D

Alberto, once you get that woodgrain on, it'll be tough to play favorites...  ::)
One can never have too many Pintos!

The orange looks great. I think it is my favorite. Here is my yellow one for comparison.

Hi guys, I just bought a 1979 Pinto, Canadian model. Apparently some of the parts used in the Canadian model were Bobcat parts.
I'm looking for an Orange driver's side door panel for a 1979. Any body know where I could find one, or can they be replicated by someone you know?
Thanks,
 Ronnie

Do you know if you have standard or deluxe door panels?  Deluxe has a fake wood grain molding. Unfortunately, orange is a hard color to find in good original shape.  It tends to fade from orange to yellow.  It took me years but I was able to piece together a decent original orange interior for my cruising wagon.  Just keep searching.  Good luck to you.
