Getting ready for the 331
« on: December 15, 2012, 09:04:45 PM »
Hey all,
I recently pulled out the 289/4 speed from my 71. On the way is a stroked 331 with aluminum heads and automatic. The new motor has less compression and should be more user friendly as well as get more than 3 miles to the gallon. Of course the next step is to get rid of the 5.43 gears in the rear end.
I also upgraded to Strange Engineering 5 lug disc in the front.
Randy
Just a 289......

I know the feeling. My '79 351/C4 with 3.90 rear got 10 mpg & was useless as a driver.
'73 Sedan (I'll get to it)
'76 Wagon driver
'80 hatch(Restoring to be my son's 1st car)~Callisto
