Title: Dad's Pinto
Post by: Pinto916 on November 28, 2012, 05:33:09 AM
My dad bought his Pinto new in 80 and gave it to me just before he passed away in 2000. It was the only new car that he ever bought and he really loved it. It was always garaged and only had 32,000 miles on it. I have put only about 1000 miles in the last 12 years. It hadn't been driven for 7 years and had some problems from setting so long. I had to replace the entire brake system and clean out the fuel tank. The carburetor went bad and I found a brand new Motorcraft for only $95. It ran so good after that that I didn't even have to make any adjustments. The drivers seat and the carpet had some wear but I found a custom shop that rebuilt the seat exactly like original and installed a preformed carpet set. The rest of the interior is mint. Even though the original paint still  looks pretty good I'm considering getting it repainted. I would never consider selling this car.

Looks slick! I wish mine was that well-kept and such a great starting point!!! :) Good luck with it!

That's a nice ride for sure  8)  I'd put a few hundred miles a year on it though to keep the deterioraton at bay.
