Title: 1st test drive. Scary
Post by: steveseaton on August 27, 2014, 05:16:42 AM
Well, took my Pinto for the first drive after lots of fabrication. The 351w made a lot more power than i expected. It ran straight and smooth but had trouble seeing over the hood when I hit 2nd gear. This thing is scary!!! Now I will have to finish the body work and paint. What an adrenaline rush when you get plastered to the back of the seat!!!

These little cars are a bundle of fun, no doubt about that.

Are you going to post up some pictures of your build?

I'd raise your seat up from the floor a few inches. It will help a lot with seeing over the hood when your in the throttle.

Haven't had a lot of time to work on the '79 Pro, but I have lots of pics of the build and open to share any of my fabrication on the car.  Just picked up a '73 wagon from Texas with 74K miles for a sedan delivery project.  It will end up a 302/t5 or 2.3turbo/t5. I don't get on here much. Going to have to do better. To answer Derrick's question on the 351w it is a '89 truck block, 9.5-1, Edelbrock heads, Comp cam, Howard's push rods, Harland Sharp rockers, Edelbrock dual fours, Hooker headers, MSD 6al-2, MSD pro b dist. It's running a Ford Racing light wt. flywheel and clutch (hyd.), Quick time bell, WC t5, 9" Detroit w/4.30, CE magnum 4 link, Moser axles, and 4 wheel discs.

A friend has a '77 with a 351 in it, when the road is wet and you get on it the car will do donuts, very hairy.

Yea I can imagine. Mine will not see much wet weather but  the 73 wagon I just picked up will as it will be a daily driver when finished.
