Maybe it was a casting flaw that broke off under use. Or, maybe that tooth was ground slightly off and broke the first time it turned??? Goes the other gear show any markings from the broken tooth? If not it might be an indicator that it can be reused. ... (moments later) I never had one that far apart. Is that the drive gear for the distributor?

Finally got the crankshaft pulley off. After trying several things. I tried using a rubber strap wrench but that didn't work. I was able put socket extensions thru the engine stand and into the rear crankshaft flywheel holes. Was able to stop the crankshaft from moving.  Also took out the oil pump shaft and noticed some of the teeth are chipped.  So far the only bad part that I have found on the engine. Kind of weird being only 40k miles on the motor.

The eBay green pinto didn't sell, reserve not met.
Starting bid $8,000 and bidding didn't even make it up to $9,000.
Only 2 bidders as well.
On a brighter note, a Corevett owner got all excited today about my Pinto!

Thanks for the link.
The article had a sarcastic tone, and I don't agree with his statement, "The Pinto was not known for its great styling." He's nuts! One lady looking at my car exclaimed, "This Pinto is stinking adorable!"  That says it all!
Anyway, I'm watching the green one on eBay; no bids yet. (Wonder what the blue round thing is sticking out of the driver side air vent)

"Jade" was a 1979 Pinto. The Ebay car is a 1973.  https://barnfinds.com/jade-time-capsule-1979-ford-pinto/ (scroll down on page).

I believe the new owner wrote that he intended to drive it.

Or maybe this one on eBay is NOT Jade....I could be mistaken. Doesn't Jade have around 400 original miles? At any rate, a great car to drive around town on St. Patrick's day!

Still snowing here in Upstate NY, but Spring starts tomorrow so it's a matter of time.  I plan to rearrange the shop mid to late April so I can start working on it again.  I am looking forward to getting back on it and getting it running and roadworthy over the course of the Summer.  I know my wife will want me to do other things, but this project is high on my list to get done.  I envy those of you that have nice weather year 'round and can can play with your toys whenever you want!  Hopefully soon I will be making more regular progress reports, and requests for advice and help...

Looking forward to it!!!

Dwayne :)
