Some Questions about 2.3T into former 1.6l car
« on: October 15, 2006, 10:57:00 AM »
ok a friend and myself started this project several years ago with his 71 1.6l pinto. He bought the car from a guy who used to race 2.0 pintos and had installed a 9" with 4.10 gears, draglight wheels with traction bars. the car is very well taken care of.

anyways. im pretty familar with the 2.3t motors(used to own a 87 turbo coupe, the reason we started this project). my question is, first off what are you guys using for fuel lines. I already have a inline pump, but as far as connecting the hard lines on the frame to the fuel rail, what are you guys using, and with what connections.

2nd, engine space is tight being the earlier body style, and having been a former 1.6 car new motor mounts were welded in (with a lot of headaches). can anyone give me some rough measurements of the engine position such as valve cover to firewall clearance, oil pan to crossmemeber clearance, etc?

3rd what pulleys are best to use? the stock ones from the tc seem like they stick a little to far out, and may hit the radiator. I dont know for sure since I dont have one yet.

also what pinto brackets and accessories are best to use? i already have the alternator brackets, which alternator should i use? the tc or the pinto? throttle cable?

any other advice, tips, little parts, etc. would really help. thanks.
