I'm wanting to have Green Meanie, my '73 wagon, run better. I was advised to have the points replaced. Kimmy kindly showed me what points are but I'm still daft about it all, so this morning I perused my trusty(?) Chilton's book and straight from another book (The Great Book Of Dumb And Stupid Questions) comes this query: What is the high-tension wire in relation to "Disconnect the high-tension wire from the coil and unsnap distributor cap..."? I can't even start a project without facts! lol. Also, what do bad points look like? Thank you for your help. :)

The high tension wire they are referring too are the plug wires.

As for the points, looks for pits or burn marks and uneven wear.

he 'high tension wire' is the one that comes out of the center of the distributer cap
