C4 Neutral Safety Switch pin/wire mapping
« on: September 20, 2010, 11:49:54 PM »
I have disassembled the switch from my 73' station wagon's C4 automatic transmission and mapped out which color wire from which connector goes to which contact point on the internal circuit assembly. If this seems like something anyone might be interested in, let me know and I will find a scanner to get the page from my notebook onto the computer and post it up.

This winter I plan to rebuild my 2.8 engine and c4 trans on my 78. My back up lights dont work and assume its the neutral/reverse light switch.I can only find listings for a c3 trans not the c4.I have searched other Ford models with the c4 and show they are avalible. Will these work, even if I have to put the original plug on it ?

not quite sure. I will pull a C3 one from a local yard and pull it apart to compare. I'm curious about this myself. A new switch for me would cost about $80.00, but it IS a motorcraft switch. However, I don't have that cash to spend, and like you, I have no backup lights.

I got my switch reassembled and all the wiring tests out okay. I will know next week if it all works properly.
