2.3 turbo T5 tranny, swapping bellhousing can and can'ts????
« on: February 13, 2012, 09:13:30 PM »
I was wondering on a T5 swap,  can I use an 83 Tbird turbo  Bellcrank clutch cable pull type Bell housing on a 87 Tbird turbo transmission,   the 87 is hydraulic clutch and I want to use the cable pull type 83 bell crank type in my 79 turbo 2.3 swap???   Anyone got any ideas?  Thanks

Make sure it's for a 2.3 and not a V-6 or the input shaft might not fit. Go over it and make sure it shifts. Go to turboford.org and search junkyard T-5. The tranny did not appear to be hard to rebuild however. At least in the 15 minutes or so that the guy on Muscle Car took....
