Hood/Carb clearance and go fast
« on: April 15, 2013, 07:19:00 PM »
I am installing a Motorcraft/Ford 2 barrel carburator on an Offenhauser intake manifold in my 1980 Pinto with a 2300 engine, will I have a problem with hood clearance, and if so what can I do to allow the hood close normally?  If I need to modify the hood, where/who might I go to for another hood?  Without going into the engine, other than the top part, what can I do further to give me more go power?  I have the Offenhauser intake manifold and carb, an exhaust header and a roller cam with a competition grind?  Please respond to me via my e-mail address, which is: lesterwa58@yahoo.com

I'm curious about this too.  I have an offenhauser dual port intake with a fuel injection set up from FAST.  I'm hoping it all fits underneath the hood.  Planning on having the heads done at BoPort racing and a roller cam as well.

Yes, the post is old, but I'd be curious to know how much trouble came of using the Motorcraft 2 bbl., if it is a 2100 or 2150. Should have some fits there with too rich due to power valve issues, depending on which carb used.

There is a low profile air cleaner with a drop down base that might work.

The triangle shape air cleaner with all the holes in the top, that Edelbrock sells will clear ever thing just fine. Cheap too.
