WTB 1979 Pinto Wagon Drivers Door Glass
« on: May 16, 2020, 05:30:20 PM »
Seeking drivers door glass for a 1979 Pinto wagon - be nice if it could be found in the Northeast. Have many Pinto parts to sell or trade. Mint 1979 fenders, hood, and grill - steering columns, and dash. Located in Massachusetts.

You should be able to swap someone.....79-80 are different body parts, window should be the same for all years. dang l just scrapped a '71 with good door glass l'm just out of room and don't know what to keep for my own use
If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?

77 to 80 wagon windows differ from earlier cars - unfortunately

I knew the windshields were different because the later cars got glue in windshields but is the side glass different too? In this case the OP looking for the drivers door glass.

I'm curious also as to how they are different. i always thought the doors (and thus the glass) were the same on all models. And is it just the wagons that are different?

The difference is in the window regulator mechanism.  Ford did a redesign in the last few years of production so the glass is slightly different inside the door where the regulator attaches.  You need the right glass for the type of regulator that you have.  Hope this helps.

I'll never figure Ford out. They will have crossover parts among many models (Maverick/Pinto/Mustang II) and yet within a certain model they will make seemingly unnecessary changes even in the latter years of the production when they likely know the car is at its end. Why the odd steering rack in '73? Why the rear brake drums not cross-fitting between the 6-3/4" and 8" rear ends? Why the glue in windshield in the later years? I've been told there a four brake/clutch pedal configurations!

Glad to here that. Glass for these older cars is getting harder to find (and not cheap when it is). Nice thing about a the panel wagon..., no glass there.
