Which pinto engine is the best
« on: May 28, 2007, 01:03:31 PM »
I have a 1957 Nash Metropolitan & I want to install a Pinto Engine & tranny in it.
I am looking for an engine that is the most dependable. Around 100 horsepower with a cast iron head. I know there were some years better that others. Also looking for one that parts are easy to find.
Thanks

I like the 2000, 71-72, very reliable, easy to work on and can be modified fairly easy.

The 2.3 is nothing to sneeze at.

Started with a Bobcat wagon. Then a Cruising wagon. Now a Chocolate brown 77 wagon. I will enjoy this car for a long time. I'm in. High_Horse

Hey FoPar, looks like we are doing a very simular project. I'm assuming you had the flathead 196(if I'm wrong please correct me). I'm going to swap in a carbed 2.3 into my 65 Rambler American if my overhead valve 196 doesn't want to run. Looks like it would be an easy swap. I'd like to see and keep track of your progress. I'd like to see some pics to see what your dealing with as well.
