Wheel Lip Trim - '75 Runabout
« on: November 21, 2013, 10:20:14 AM »
Hey guys, I've been going crazy here.

For about 2 months now I've been looking for wheel lip trims (4) for my '75 Runabout. They are nearly impossible to find as far as I know and I haven't really found any seller on ebay or other distributors who sell them.
If you know anyone who's selling them or anywhere I can get them please let me know.
What were your experiences with finding trims of any sort?

thanks up front, Zouz

I have three of the wide wheel well trim, but they are dented/pitted. Not sure if you are looking for wide or the thin/narrow trim. They came off a 78 Mercury Bobcat station wagon (pretty much a fancy, optioned, Pinto).

They can be re-chromed and shaped, not sure for how much though. That's the reason I have kept them around.

If you are looking for the wide moldings I could only locate 3 of the pieces you need in NOS.
There is a Very Limited amount of all 4 available in the standard size.  ( According to online inventories.)
Note: If you are looking for used ones the wagon rear is different than the passenger car.
PM me if you would like more info.

Thanks for the replies.

289Wagon:
where'd you find that set of 4? I'm not sure f I have the wide or thin ones, the car had none when I bought it. I have a 75 Runabout if that's any help. I have all chrome trims and just want to complete the look.

As I looked for trim rings, and found rings, I see what you're looking for on ebay. You may want to look there for them...

- 1976 Mustang II mini-stock

Thanks for the info, I do find trim rings on ebay, but I don't need those.
I need the wheel lip trim. There are as afar as I can see only 3 on ebay, a pair of rear wagon trims and a RR Wagon Trim.
I can leave them off without anybody really noticing but I just want to get the thing back to what it once was.

I understand. I have been getting the ones for the Maverick little by little now. For example, the hubs and rims are pretty specific to those models and I want them original, so I am buying them in ones or twos honestly...

I have what you are looking for. The stock number is D5FZ16038-9
I watched E-bay for seven years to get them one by one. Each time, I got into a bidding war. I ended up spending an average of $150.00 each. That is a bit of a mark-up from the $7.65 original price. I do have all four. I put them on my car for car shows and then removed them after. I have obtained an Hotpants kit, I don't longer need them any longer. They have no dents or real scratches. They do have some very minor swirl type marks on them. This can not be seen unless you look close. You probably need to be within 12 inches or so to see them. I will sell them for what I have in them. $600.00 plus shipping from Colorado. I am not trying to stick it to anyone, This is what I payed. If you are interested send me a PM. I don't have a photo that shows them up close but you can look at my photobucket and see if this is the size you need.

Wow, you do have a lot into them ;)

Well, he can go your route I guess or just keep looking for them little by little.

Tough choice.
