Will this bolt on to my 1973 wagon does anyone know? I need the day/night - lights are a killer at night and it's currently stock with no day/night on it.

Don't know if 73 is the same as 74 but looking at the pic it won't fit mine and according to their chart it won't, but if it comes with the base shouldn't be a problem, just pop your base off the windshield and put the new one on they are glued on.

Ok thanks, I can keep looking...

I was going to do the same to mine, with a new mirror. The base is larger on the Pinto, and the aftermarket replacements won't work.
My 78 came with a day/night mirror but the reflective coating was deteriorating and driving me nuts so I put a panoramic rear view clip on over it, works for me.
I have yet to find a day/night mirror that will fit the base of the Pinto.
Talk to the guys at speedy glass, they have a clip on "bezel" that will go over the original base, and you can glue the new base onto the old one so there isn't a gap between the mirror mount and the windshield.

hmmmmm I'll have to do that!

I guess I got lucky. I thought they were all the same. I grabbed one off some car at the yard and put it on. No problem.

Ford dimmer mirrors of the era seem to fit, if you got lucky and found one in decent shape, I envy you! lol
The stock Pinto stud is narrow, later and after market studs are wider and wedge shaped.

Hmmm, does that mean a Maverick one would fit?

Maybe yours is different than mine but mine is narrower than the one in the pic, unless it's just the angle of the pic that makes it look wider??.. And also mine is straight those look like they are tapered?

I'm going to check with the glass repair guy and see if he can remove that when he comes to fix a chip :) I'd be afraid to crack the windshield... If he can, then I'll get that one. Tomorrow I'm going to call and see what they want to do the front buckets :D

That would be the way to go, they're not the easiest to get off but they come off I done a few before, it was kinda scary the first time,lol..

Had new windshield put in mine because of bad wiper scratches and I commented to the installer that I wished I had a day night mirror in my "high end" Squire wagon. He said "oh I have lots of those" and found a nice one that went staight on. He though it was GM. It's wider than the old one and really nice at night. It could be that the new windshield had a newer style mirror mount. Never tried to put the old one on it.

I'm having the back 5 windows in my Pinto tinted tomorrow pretty dark. I'm thinking that will fix the problem with headlights.
