I hope you get them! I know next to nothing about the woodgrain on the Squires and never really cared much until I bought a '72 Squire recently. Is the adhesive already on it like with Contac paper? I also noticed it says that all six panels are the same part number so I guess that means you cut it to fit rather than it being custom cut already? Also, since there are actually seven panels (two fenders, two doors, two quarters, and a tailgate) is there enough material in six rolls to do an entire car? And what's with the 1974 -79 designation? What about 1972, '73, and '80? It would appear to me that they'd all be the same. My woodgrain is fine and I have no interest in purchasing these. As I said, I hope you get them. Just a few questions from an inquiring mind...

I hope you get 'em. In 5 years plus I've never seen another set pop up for sale. I've seen a lot of posts on here asking where to buy the woodgrain so it must not be reproduced.

JC Whitney offers a GREAT reproduction wood grain that I have had on my wagon for years. The person that I got my wagon from had replaced the original with the Whitney stuff and I could not tell the difference.
It takes two rolls of NOS to do a car. One side and the hatch/truck area so if I get them, I am having a professional put it on LOL!!!

I don't blame you. With a rare decal I would want a guarantee it's applied correctly too.

So you're saying the six rolls are enough material to do three entire cars? I agree with you about hiring a professional to install it... this is not a project that you want to learn on! Good luck with the auction!

Ouch! I hate losing stuff that way!

I've gotten to the point where if it's something I really want and there's a "Buy It Now", I usually just bite the bullet and do it. I spend a little more that way, but at least I'm not kicking myself afterwards.

out here in "LALA land" there are a ton of vehicles running around that have been 'wrapped' in vinyl to promote a product or cause.

just wondering; is this 'wrapping' vinyl different from that which the OE woodgrain appliques are made?

could the vinyl 'wrap' manufacturers reproduce a woodgrain of suitable (or better) quality and style to that which was originally applied to our Pintos?

I don't know about the earlier years, but nothing that looks like the '79 Country Squire woodgrain was ever used on a Pinto.

I took a roll of my n.o.s wood grain to see if my local vinyl wrap company could remake the applicay for the car ... It will look like original and hold up better with the modern decal.... Any sign shop that uses vinyl lettering and has the computer program should b able to match as long as u have a good enough patern... Home Depot sells contact paper that is a real close match ... But get the paper copied to something more substantial ..... Don(

Dwayne , I will get price quote after the holiday .... I also finding out cost differance on wrapping the trim on the squire or having the aluminum trim chromed .. I will let all know when I get $ figure back..

Actually, the woodgrain on my '72 Squire is in amazingly good condition and it (and everything else on the car) is original so I'd have to think long and hard before taking that plunge, regardless of the price. On the other hand, I know we have lots of Squire owners here who aren't so lucky and who are in desperate need of new woodgrain so I'm sure this is highly anticipated information.
