Title: Manual Shifter Bushing (Saddle)
Post by: JohnW on May 22, 2013, 05:11:55 PM

I just had to buy one from England. Worked out to $18.33 with shipping. It's called a saddle, it's the bushing that goes between the shift lever and linkage. From what I could find, absolutely nobody in the US sells these. It's the same for the Pinto transmission (Type E) and the Type 9 5-speed used in the european Capri and Sierra/Merkur. Managed to find the info from a Merkur site, since the T9 in the Merkur is essentially a Pinto transmission with a 5th gear shoved in it.

Anyways, this fits and works perfectly. It was the only option I could find. There's also a brass one available made for competition use but it's pretty expensive. http://www.burtonpower.com/hd-brass-saddle-gearlever-to-selector-shaft-type-9-e-gbt9539.html

They sell the plastic one too, but it worked out to more than the eBay one with shipping:

Nice link, looks to be a direct fit. Post this in the Help section or parts section.

Isn't this the parts section? And yes, it is a direct fit. Looks like what I remember the original to, it disintegrated on me right after my shifter came out a few weeks back. I put it back together and the worn saddle broke into like 4 pieces. Feels so much better than having all that play. Not to mention it would catch between gears sometimes without the saddle in there.

It's not the same shape, and who knows how close the size is? You could order it and try, but it doesn't look right.

Merkur Midwest seems to have quite a bit of stuff. Wish I came across them before.
