heater box without A/C
« on: June 02, 2017, 04:26:00 PM »
Hi

i wanted to replace the heater core of my 1979 pinto. when i opened the heater box i've seen that the box was broken - where the heater core hoses are, and the flap was missing (the flap to change between hot and cold).
so i think is the best way th change the box, but its hard to find it...

if someone have a heater box and does not need it anymore, i would take it...lol

pleas send me some offers if you have one to sell... i'm living in switzerland.

PM or email to cbeinstein@hotmail.com

thanks and regards

Dan

You better think this one over! The cost of shipping would tip the scale to bright red and then some. Take the heater box out of the car and glue it back together. Then forget the door and install a shut off valve into the heater inlet hose. This way you will be able to shut off the heater in warm weather and in the winter you can open the valve to get heat. One other thing is to make sure your buying a non-air heater core as most on E-gay are factory air and will not interchange. You could use a choke cable from the dash to the shut off valve to turn off and on the valve so you didn't need to open the hood each time. Hope this helps you. Remember to keep your car shiny at all times.
Its better to be a has-been, than a never was.

...now i made the flap, but i find out on a Picture that i found on the Internet, that inside the heaterbox  some parts for the airflow or something like this are missing. if someone had this parts it would be coll when i can get these parts or get some Fotos of these part to rebuild it...

see Picture in the Attachement:
