Great upholsterer in Southwest Idaho

Anyone in Southwest Idaho who needs work, I want to show you what he did for $300.00 to a front seat. He will be doing both my Pinto front seats also for 150/each with me buying the material instead of them. Waiting on samples from SMS :)

Looks like he did a fine job!  We used to have a woman near here that, if you pulled the seat and brought it to her, would generally have it finished in less than 24 hours!  She did seats for several of my projects over the years.  Sadly, it was a one-woman shop and she retired couple of years ago.  You are going to have that Galaxie looking sharp!

May have to consider this as a way to go- There is a guy here who does it, but he is 85, and always busy.( and expensive)

I'm redoing a Focus bucket right now, a whole 'nother world there. They commonly crack the back at top because with the reclining feature they are not anchored on one side, so every time you get in the car you lean against the back internal frame to warp it one way to crack. Common, most in the yard were the same way, luckily I tripped across a lightly used one with no cracks. I brazed a couple of pieces onto it to reinforce the crack areas, with a bit of luck it will hold up under my fat -ss.

My first car seat but it's going well, found a good back support frame and a nice cover and foam support molding as well so back together she goes. $25............

It gives you respect for those who do that work every day........... ...many are old timers and once lost those skills are gone forever.

I used to sew, but honestly I don't want to do the seats. Good job on doing yours!!

No sewing involved at all, the later ones cleverly snap together around the metal frame and foam padding, maybe 6 hog rings involved in holding down corners for neatness. Bottom and top of seat are separate and easily to do so. The finding of a really pristine original cover made it all possible. One of the snap on ribs was difficult to try to unhook without ripping things in frustration, but I sat down and thought about it and went in house to retrieve a tool I hadn't used in 20 years with just the right shape to the end and voila! done. It goes back together much easier just like on the assembly line. Quick, quick. Simple once you know how they are put together.

The basic seat cover itself DOES still sew like the ones of old, they simply made it so after that, the whole assembly goes together like lightning.
