Title: Electronic Ignition
Post by: bobatwarsaw on January 12, 2012, 07:13:13 PM
Hi Group
I want to install a EI kit in my 73, and be done with the
points and condencer. I am looking for the best EI kit on
the market. Can anyone help me with the best brand name?
Thanks Bob

Would that be the same for a 76 with a 2.3? Thanks

Pertronixs makes conversion units for just about everything out there.  Jeg's or Summit Racing are probably the best place to get them. I don't think Pertronix makes a unit for anything already equipped with electronic ignition, just for anything with points as far as I know.

I work for PerTronix and we do make kits for cars that originally had Electronic Ignition, but not currently  for the 2300 with the Duraspark. I am working it as well as a New Cast Complete Distributor with a Performance advance curve and Ignitor Technology - the prototype is going in my car next week.

I have the 2.8L Pinto V6 ( cologne motor ) with points and condensor.  I have been posting under " projects "  This is what I know for my V6...  Mallory sells a drop in conversion, but after purchase they conveniently let you know you need their distributor..  Way to costly and I am unsure if it even works?   I am unsure about Petronix's drop in conversion?  Anything for the V6 ( petronix product )??

I also found that NAPA sell an "exact fit " electronic distributor for my engine for $67.00 USD   But wiring it in entails the purchase of an ignition module and a schematic which I cant find anywhere...   If I only had a detailed schematic or sound understanding of how ignition systems work, ya know....

If you can get the distributor with the electronic pickup you can use a Ford GM or Chrysler module. and wiring.
I like the Mopar Performance orange box as it is 4 wires and weather proof. http://tinyurl.com/7lus83r and wiring http://tinyurl.com/8xa4zc8

I'm afraid we (PerTronix) don't make one for the V6 at this time.
