Anyone used Internet Parts Search Services?
« on: July 28, 2014, 09:21:55 PM »
I sent an inquiry to www.QualityAut oParts.com and they turned up two Pinto hoods for me. They are an intermediary with junkyards, taking a markup. The problem is, how do I verify the hood is the right one for my model year, and find our how much rust and other damage it has?
1973 Pinto Runabout with upgraded 2.0 liter & 4 speed, and factory sunroof. My first car, now restored, and better than it was when it rolled off the assembly line!

Never used them, but you don't have to have an intermediary to do it. Just call a local salvage yard, almost all of them are on a national data base, they put out a request for a specific part, and all the other yards that have that part reply.
As far as rust goes, ask them for pictures of the actual hood before hand.

Or you could place a parts wanted ad here. Best place to get one, in my opinion. Doesn't cost anything for the ad either. And you might find one close to you so you don't have to pay shipping, which isn't cheap.

X2, shipping would zoop and the chance for damage is great with the way they do things today. I'd be looking at insurance too.
