Title: 2.8L Heater Pipe
Post by: Pintopower on January 22, 2018, 01:46:26 PM
Does anyone know where to either get a new heater pipe for a 75-79 Ford 2.8L engine (the one that runs from behind the thermostat to the heater core) or know of a pipe bender that isn’t a total thief or a hack? I contacted the place that did my last batch in stainless for $60 each  for a quantity of 3 and when I asked for 2 more, the price rose slightly…to $589….each! So either someone has discovered crystal meth over there or the price of 316L stainless has surpassed gold. Either way, the consecutive bend is what causes the issue and why most places can’t/won’t do it. My current options are to call my pipe guy in china that I work with but I would rather keep my money in the USA when I can. I can also make one out of ABS but that doesn’t make me all warm and fuzzy inside. I really do not want a used one for very obvious reasons unless it is in great shape. I no longer run water in my coolant systems so corrosion is not a factor but I would really like to have a new one, just not for $589.

Is that the tube that is hooked to the thermostat housing?
