'74 Window Felt

Found a sourse in Florida but they want too much for shipping. There must be a supplier closer to L.A. Can anybody beat $25/roll of felt?

Check your local auto body shop for felts.

Unless you mean these ?

$352 for rear quart window seals!!! To "Re-Rubber" a Pinto probably cost 70% to 100% of the cars value! Sometimes you can get rubber and felts from other cars that are adaptable.

The rubber on my Studebaker doors were completely dry rotted. However, I found that the 1st Gen. Mazda MPV door seals could be cut to fit rather decently. Best part was before You Pull Parts closed they were charging $3.00 each for the seals. The big problem with the Pinto is that the doors are so darn long even if you found something to work shape wise, it probably wouldn't have enough length.

Wittsend - They sent me all the seals for my 72 by mistake - I asked for a quoye & they shipped....the n wanted me to pay.

Checked all the seals & the 1/4 window seals were the right shape, but there is an odd front (vertical) lip on it that was not even close (plus way too much money !) so I sent them back.

I wonder if those work for (both) the solid (and, were there even) pop out windows??? I've only had a wagon so I'm a bit challenged on that matter.

Sometimes there just needs to be viable options. As an example I believe someone said the late Pinto glue in windshields could be glued into an earlier car. So, $140 for a windshield gasket or $20 to glue in a possibly more readily available 79-80 windshield into an early car. I think these are options that need a closer look. Are there generic seals that can be cut and fitted? Sadly the Pinto is one of the lesser supported cars out there. I don't believe there is ANY dedicated Pinto specific parts supplier.

looks to me that the smaller one is for the fixed window without the chrome trim. the bigger one looks like it has the groove in it for the chrome trim. some cars had it and some did not.

No picture handy, but installed the new trim/seal & it doesn't fit at all. That extra bit is hanging out a long way. No way will it work.

Steel Rubber lists the same part number for all the Pintos. It just will not work......unle ss on newer ones ?

I haven't found the window channel felts anywhere, luckily l have a few decent sets but l really wanted everything new for the wagon build. l got the complete rubber set including the door glass wiper things from Steele Rubber. Around $850.....
If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?
