Post by: jimspinto on March 23, 2008, 09:29:30 AM

    Re. The Ohio Get Together, and meet in Middlefield Ohio

    The available dates are,   July 12, 08  and  July 26, 08

    I didn't commit to either date, and I still have time.  I wanted some feedback from you fellow pinto owners.  I have time, but only a few weeks, get back to me A.S.A.P.

    My thinking is I'd take the 12th, with the 26th as a rain date,  Please some feedback and / or interest.  Reply here [I will look daily] and or email me at  JIMSFINEFORDS@YAHOO.COM

   I havn't answered any of the guys that already emailed me  [you know who you are]  because I want / need to see some responce here FIRST

   I think the idea of getting together is fantastic, not only am I excited about it, so is everyone else that was at the meeting last saturday.  If we can pull this off, I will [try to] have the news papers and etc there for coverage,  A Trophy for the greatest distance, Best pinto etc.  Whatever it takes !

   Again, contact me or post here A.S.A.P.     Jim at  jimspinto    Email again is   JIMSFINEFORDS@YAHOO.COM

Are you interested in any type of Pinto? I could clean my dragcar up and do a little work on the interior and it should be show worthy. It's about a 4 hour drive up there from Ripley, but my mom and dad are on vacation that week (July 12) and might consider making a nice little trip out of it.

I will do either day. I spoke with my wife about it this morning, and though she isn't willing to spend the time in the car to get there, she thinks it's a great idea. I'm in.

If I still live in Ohio, I will be there.  As far as I know, I should be able to bring both cars, though they are not exactly "show" quality.

Where in Middlefield?
==========================================================

   What kind of a question is that ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
   Havn't you ever been to the far edge of the world, Middlefield is just before that.

   SERIOUSLY THOU, I WILL TRY TO TELL YOU [everyone] BUT IT WONT BE THAT EASY.  I have two problems, make it three problrms.   #1 Cant spell, #2 cant type and #3 how can you tell a person where "noplace" is

  Middlefield is at Ohio St.Rts. 87 and St. Rts. 608
  Its surrounded by four towns that nobody ever heard of, Burton to the west, Huntsburg to the north, Mesopotamia to the east, and Parkman to the south.  I'm sure this information is "useless" but please keep in mind that ALL THE TOWNS IN THE AERA are five [5] miles sq. so you havn't traveled any distance to get through them.

   From Conneaut Pa. travel west on Interstate 90 for aprox 60 miles to Ohio St. Rt. 608 then 20 miles south to St. Rt. 87 [the center of town] west for one half mile to the cruise
   From the Ohio turnpike [interstate 80] exit on Ohio St. Rt. 44, go north for aprox. 15 miles to Ohio St. Rt. 87, then east for aprox. 15 miles to the cruise
   The two above interstate highways are good referance points, but theres also interstate 480, that connects to Us. Rt. 422,  Rt. 422 exits on Ohio St. Rt. 44, just south of Ohio St Rt. 87

   Here's a thought, go to map-quest.  Bring up this address [its also in downtown Middlefield, across the street from the cruise]
   Advance Auto Parts 15490 W. High St. Middlefield, Ohio

  I hope this both helps people find / know where Middlefield is, but doesn't scare anybody off.  Although Middlefield is "no place" its not hard to get to, its centrally located between several major interstate highways   If I can be of futher help by phone, please call me at 440 591 8381 [cell]

   Thanks again,  Jim at   jimspinto

OK, cool.  I had already googled the town and gotten directions, I was just wondering where in the town it was.  Although, seeing as it is a small town like mine, I am sure that it would not be that difficult to find a group of Pintos sitting somewhere!! ;D

  Thanks for the information [googled it]  I never looked there, was going to but never got to it.  Its nice to know that such informatiom is available.

  Your correct, its a small town, there are only two main streets.  Being High Street or St. Rt. 87 and State Street or St. Rt. 608.  As for seeing a group of Pinto, the view may be blocked by other Pony's.

  Middlefield is a big Amish settlement, if you got there early enough in the day, you'd see alot of Amish buggy's [shopping]  In the late afternoon, the Amish are mostly kids or teens that gather at the fast food places.
 What, you didn't think the town was big enough for a McDonalds, they got a K.F.C's - Subways - a few Pizza Shops - even a Walmart.  Plenty to see, even a cheese factory
   And by the way, there are rails to tie-up your pony  They are for the Amish, but it would be a great picture to have   [your pinto tied to the rail, along side the other pony's]

  It certainly could be a fun family day, plenty of things to see and visit, hope to see you and all others there.   Come early, vist the town and sites, then in the afternoon the cruise.   For those in Pa. Middlefield is centrally located off major highways, please think about joining us

   Best to all,   Jim at   jimspinto

=========================================================
   Just a good address to mapquest.  There not only a sponser, they are located ACROSS THE STREET from the cruise location

   Location is at "HARRINGTON SQUARE MALL"    Its on the south side of the street, behind a "McDonalds"  and a few feet west of a "Walmart"

  If you mapquested or googled "Advance Auto Parts" and the Middlefield address, you'd be also be at "Harrington Square Mall"

  I know you'd enjoy the cruise, and the town  [see the other post on tying up your pony]  so come early and take time to visit

   Best to all,  Jim at   jimspinto

Re. Whats the plan.

   I like to say the day is open for you to see the sites [town] and the afternoon is for the cruise and get together
  I have to work on alot "for" plans, its early yet [maybe not that early]  What I'm thinking of is to get some of the "local" news paper and ect.  Maybe some kind of "photo coverage"  "interviews'   Something in the line of reconition, Also, a trophy or two "for pintos only"
  I'd love it if you or anyone else could make some suggestions, tell me what you like to see happen and etc.   I'v never done this before, and I'm totaly open for suggestions

When I did the 2005 meet, I found things to do. Of course I had the luxury of a "Tourist trap" to make planning easier.

One popular thing to do, is to have a dinner, or lunch. Everyone can sit around & just shoot the breeze.

You know your area better than anyone else, toss out a few ideas & let the attendees tell you what sounds cool :)

Well I was just concerned about the 'cruise' part.  A meeting would be good, if we had enough Pinto's it could be like a mini-car show and if you had some Pinto stuff to get ride of you could bring it and we could have a little swap meet. I won't be able to do the 'cruise' part because my car is not street legal, but I'd still come up if there was a little car show and swap meet or something to that effect. It's a four-hour drive for me but if we had enough Pinto's I'd make the drive and it sounds like a neat little town so my family was thinking of tagging along and getting a hotel and just visiting what there is to see up there. I'm going to have to get a new trailer to haul the car too, we sold the racecar trailer when we sold the car the first time.

  A question, Re. "plans for the day"

   How many are famillar with the Amish lifestyle, and or interested in something like a drive thru the Amish Aera"   Maybe a stop or two at one or more of there stores, harness shops,  bugy shop,  horseshoe [blacksmith] shop etc.  A quick note, most of them get VERY PI--ED if you take pictures of them.  A religious issue, dont want ther picture taken.  You could take photos of there houses, horses, etc. just not of the person, or the bigger part of them.  There are several that follow the life style and dress, but are not that religious, most anything goes with them

   Theres a centry village in Burton [the neighboring town, remember all towns are five miles sq.]  Lots of centry old buildings, a blacksmith shop, etc.  Theres a hill [drop off like] in Century Village from which you can view most of the south eastern part of Geauga County,  I'd get them to allow you to use it as a back-drop to photo your Pinto

   Two towns east [again, less than 10 miles]  is Americaqn Socity for Metals, and the world famous "Geodesic Dome"  It'd be a shame to be this close and not stop.  Fantastic photo operatunity and back drop for pictures of your pinto

   All of Geauga County is like wide open country, but there are some interisting places to visit.  I'd be more than willing to set up a meeting time in the early am, spend the day with you [into the mid afternoon] tour the area and etc.   I will also see to it that I have available some brocures covering the attractions and etc.

   As to lunch, there are several "fast food" places in town.   Also there an "Amish Family Style" resturant just a mile from the cruise site.  It might be nice to schedule lunch there.  If enough are interisted, I'd see to it that we have an appointment

   I'm sure that theres enough to keep you busy for the entire day or more, so dont hesitate to ask questions or [please] suggest something.  Like what are most more interisted in doing

  Best to all,,,,,, Jim at  jimspinto     Did I post my phone number, cant remember so here it is [again ?]    440 591 8381 cell

    It'd be a shame if you couldn't bring that car up here. "Trailer it or something"  I think everybody would love to see it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
   As for over-night,  There are some "motals" in the neighboring towns, but also some "B & B" places around also  If anyone showed some interist, I'd get the address and etc.
   And a small swap-meet thing, that would be great !!!!!!!!!!!

      I had to jump on here with a note !!!!!!!!!

      I see that there is ALOT of interist and communication from "Ohio" Pinto owners, and I'm certainly glad of that.
     I was just thinking that  [maybe]  it was a bad choise of words "Ohio get together"
   The only reason for thinking that is because there doesn't seem to be any interist from our neighbors.
   Where are you ????????
   We'd  welcome you, love to have Pintos from other states           Please think about a visit to us here in north east Ohio, it'd be a wonderfull summer drive, we have some beautifull scenery and not many hills for thoses Pintos to climb

  Thanks,   Jim at   jimspinto

I'll need to track down a place to stay for the night, but I don't think that will be a big deal. A swap meet would be cool, and it would be great to get photos of all the cars. Food is always good, maybe we could all kick in for little plaques or magnets  or decals denoting the "First Annual Middlefield Pinto Roundup" or something fun like that. I won't suggest 70's style fashions (mainly because we don't want to go to fashion jail...) but it might be fun to tie the cars to their era somehow. Just thinking out loud.

I am not 100% committed, they haven't caught me yet.  ::) :surprised: :showback  I will most likely be there, and I will probably see some of you at Carlisle in june.  it is a seven hour drive for me and I do not have a trailer, so I will let you know more later.

Gosh, Jim, I wish I could come :(.  Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, I can't make it... at least this year.  I'm about 6 1/2 hours away from you in Virginia.  I'm fairly confident my Pinto would make the trip but I'm not even sure I'll have it ready to show anyone by July.  Also, I work every other weekend and I checked the calendar and learned that I'm working the 12th and the 26th.  If it weren't for the fact that I'll just be returning from an extended vacation about a week earlier, I could probably take off; but with my other plans already approved, I think I'd be pushing my luck to ask for more time off!  Here's wishing all of you a fantastic meet.
Dwayne :)

  Re.  dga57
  Sorry you couldn't make it, please keep us in mind and if anything changes, stop by to see us.

  RE.  rearended
  What are you talking about, all I have is 70's era clothes.  There my everyday things  [ha ha ha ]   Also, hope the "user name" isn't an everyday happening. A terrible thought, even in something other than a Pinto

  Re. flyerpinto
  If you need help with "places to stay"  please send me a message.
  The idea of some kind decal etc. is a very good one.  I will look into it, purchase something myself.  If we get a big enough number  [I'd hope we do] maybe I'd be looking for help with cost, but I'm not going to worry about it for now
   HOWEVER, that makes it important   [AGAIN]  that I have a number.  So, I'd ask  [AGAIN]  send me a commitment, by email.  I have saved other emails, but I need two things  #1 a commitment  #2  a working email address [some of the messages  are coming back to me as "no such address"]
  Everyone, please take the time to send me both of the above at  JIMSFINEFORDS@YAHOO.COM

I think I'll just trailer my Pinto and come up and then follow along in the cruise, but the bad thing is, my dad started working at a GM dealership and now all our vehicles except  the Pinto is now a GM product, including our Chevy Silverado that we would use to pull the car up there so  :cheesy_p: A chevy in a group of Fords... don't know how that would go over with the Pinto locals  :surprised: I wish I had a Pinto driver.

Bobscat,

I appreciate the offer. I'm thinking I'm going to hit further up the path so I can make it easy on myself the day of the cruise-in, but truthfully I don't know. Actually, you're not all that far from me anyway, maybe 90 minutes or so. I wish I could get my fleet up there, but right now it's one at a time...

    YOUR  ATTENTION  PLEASE  !  !  !
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   I just received a message from Frank Canon.  My guess is that many of you know who he is,  But what you may not know is how dedicated he is to this hobby.  I will repeat his offer here, for two reasons.
   First, so that everyone could see that the offer came from him.  It wasn't a request, he offered.  I'm over joyed and at a total loss for words, we owe him alot of thanks thats for sure
   Second, please get back to me A.S.A.P. with a confermation on attending the  "Ohio Get Together", so I can forward to him a number to work with
   His offer was as follows,
         How about  "Ohio Pinto Gathering"
         with  "FordPinto.com"  small, under it
         I can do Vinyl......No charge
   There was other information in his message as to what I have to do in order tp receive them,  and I will sure as hell do it.
  But for all of you, heres a keep-sake thats better than a dash plaque         Something to be proud to have and show on your Pinto.
   So, get moving, make a commitment to be there, not only will everyone be waiting for you, so will your "Windshild Sticker"
   Send me an email, with your commitment today ! ! !
    Again my address is   JIMSFINEFORDS@YAHOO.COM .
Well its time for a update huh?
How are we doing on the Ohio get together?
Remember the smaller meets are as important as the Reganal meets.
All it takes are a few Pintos and good people.
  Hey Frank,
  Thanks for the up-date and comment, I was wondering myself what was happening and were all the pinto owners went to
.
  I just came back from the all ford swap meet in Columbus were I talked with alot of ford owners about the get together.  Found several pinto owners, and gave them my email address, hope that something comes from it
  I have been talking it up here at home, can tell you that the town fathers seem to be very open and appreative of the idea   Although they want me to do all the work,. [what ever that may be] I have no problem with that
  So far I'm still in the prosess of talking, but I'm looking forward to a great time for all.  I'm talking to and hopeing for some coverage and a photo shoot from the local news papers.  Gathering support from all the local auto parts supplyers [as I'm looking for donations to use as "give-aways, gifts etc.]  Have stoped and talked with the owners of a local Amish "Family Style" resturant, for a nice sit down dinner.  Like to do  a cruise [carevan type thing] thru the Amish settlements etc.   But there are alot of interesting things & places to see, [for anyone that doesn't want to cruise]  I will have everything set-up, with all the information available [at the time of the show] so everyone can deside what they want to do at that time
  I know this will be alot of fun, and hope for bigger particatain [then I see so far] so I like to both open it to our neighboring states, and ask that EVERYONE GET BACK TO ME, A.S.A.P.  with a commitment.  A few have asked about hotels/motels, and there are plenty around.  And the best thing is that Middlefield is so easy to get to   Its located between both major interstates  [I 90 & I 80]  on Ohio Rt. 87 & Ohio Rt. 608 [both wonder thru some beautfull ohio country side]
  So please email me at  JIMSFINEFORDS@YAHOO.COM  or call me at  440 591 8381  A.  S.  A.  P.
  My god, whats happening ?
  I look on here every day, sometimes two times a day.  I think I'm getting depressed.  Is there no [other than what I have] interest ?
  Come-on guys & girls, send me a message, make a commitment.  I'm all worked up, excited, think this will be a fun time.  I spend all my time [well not all of it] talking this up, getting the locals into expecting a bunch of "Pintos"  But I get depressed when I dont see any [new] pinto owners wanting to get involved.
  As a "Pinto Owner" all you'd have to do is show up and have fun.
  You know your going to be out there showing your Pinto come July, but I need some kind of a commitment now.  Need to tell the town fathers and the cruise operators what kind of space I will need.
  Again, my email address & phone number are
   JIMSFINEFORDS@YAHOO.COM   &   440 591 8391   Of course you could post a message here also
  Its not that early, you will be cruising soon, spread the word, come to Middlefield, see other [differant] pintos, have fun,  We wont have fun without you, so please........ ...
Trust me, I am not backing out on this, it just all hinges on whether or not I am here in Ohio, or 1650 miles away!   :lol:  I will definitely be there, however, if I am still on this seaboard.  In all actuality, if everything goes right, I would really like to bring both my cars!
   Have to tell about this !
   Today I got a phone call from Frank Canon.
    For those of you that are lucky enough to live near him [in Ok.] you have to know what kind of guy he his.  For all the rest of you [us] we need to give him a BIG THANKS.  Its unblieveable how dedicated he is to this [our] hobby
    We talked for sometime on the phone  [on his dime !]  His sole reason for calling was just because he wanted to help  [me]  with this get together.  Cant say enough about him thats for sure.
   Anyway, the reason for this post, is because Frank suggested that I tell you that the "Ohio Get Together" is open to EVERYONE.
  To use his words  "The Good - The Bad - and The Ugly.    He said that [maybe]  some of you that have "drivers"  and/or  Pinto's that you use daily, might think your not welcome.
   Oh, thats wrong, for sure you are.  It would be great to be able see a pinto that was used as a daily driver.   Maybe it even has a rust hole or two, but that adds all the more to the term "daily driver"
   A restored car, or even a hardly ever used, near perfect car is certainly a delight to see, but a car that survived for twenty five plus years, and is used everyday is well worth the look, and a most welcome treat.
   So, please, if you have a "daily driver" dont hesitate to come, your not only welcome, we'd love to have you
  Thanks again, and I look forward to seeing everyone at the Get Together,  The Good, The Bad and The Ugly,  [are there actually even any ugly pinto's ?]
   Jim at   jimspinto
  P.S.
  A comment about an unrestored car !
  There's a Model A pick-up thats in  "Barn Find Condition"   Even has a nail in the door hinge, and rotted out wood in the bed, that comes to some of the local cruises.  You wouldn't believe the number of people that gather around that truck.  A testimonial to a suviver, so please bring your daily driver.
Mine'll fit right in then. It was a daily driver by the previous owner and I planned on driving it a couple times a week, but it's been downhill since then. Atleast she'll have a freshened up engine for the meet. Heard a bad knock & found out the bottom end needs all new bearings.
JimsPinto-
Frank Called me and wanted to have the PCCA put a "wing" over your meet and officially call it a PCCA Mini Meet... (hence the board move and label changing)  No Modifications on your part- just full cooperation from your Admins and the site to support your efforts.
In one of the planning conference calls the admins & myself participated in late last year and early this- we laid out a plan to 'extend' the reach of the PCCA to more individuals across America as opportunity's presented themselves.
We fully support your efforts and stand with you,
Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
  Hello to all.
  To those of you that havn't seen anything new, I not sitting on my hands !
   I'v been out there talking this get together up to everyone.  I'm trying to get support from any [all] of the local bisiness's.  Maybe a "freebe" or two from a parts store etc.
   I'm also trying to set-up  some kind of a small convoy type cruise thru the area.  Thought a trip thru the amish settlement would be interisting.  Maybe a stop at a few of there shops or something.
  You'd be surprised at the number that dont seem to welcome the idea.  One actually said   "What do those english [they call us english] think we are, a zoo or something"
  However there some that will welcome us.  Like Buggy Shops, General Stroes, Etc.
   There are alot of interesting sights and places to visit.  Many more than we would have time to see.  But thats a idea or thought also
    There are alot of places to eat, and I'v been working on a place that would "acknowledge" us and our ponto.  I'm not looking for a price off deal, [allthough that would be nice]  Just looking at say someplace that would welcome us with open arms
   My thinking at the moment is to have everything set-up and written out. That way I could hand each person a paper as they arive, then maybe have a vote of what everyone wants to do
  It'd be nice if we [those that wanted to convoy etc.] meet early in the morning,  Say around 10am.  That way we will still be able to have our late afternoon / evening cruise,  see all the other cars etc.
  Any question, comments or suggestions, please post them here or email me dirrect at  JIMSFINEFORDS@YAHOO.COM  Phone number is  440 591 8381
  Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,Jim at  jimspinto
Email sent, sir.
ETA:
I forgot to ask.  Does anyone need any Pinto related parts?
I have ~6 rallye wheels, ~3 center caps, 4 chrome rings, taking up space in my garage... and I think I still have a 4spd and the block taking up space in my dad's garage.
I might also get my green wagon trunk carpet out of the '78 by then.  If it is salvageable I can bring it up, too.
I can bring them to the meet if someone wants to look them over and make me an offer.  You know... gas money, food, nothing expensive.  You would be doing ME a favor.  I need the room.  ;)
ETA2:  I could also yank the rear axles, drums, front disks, calipers if anyone needs...
ETA3:  I walked out to the garage and remembered I can bring my front seats, too.  Driver's is well worn.  Passenger is in good condition.
Shame I can't pack it all up for the trip.  :p
  A comment on whether or not you [anybody] should bring all this stuff.
  I went to a Thunderbird [baby-bird] national meet that was held locally,  Most cars were trailered, so this allowed for alot more space to haul stuff
  I think it was like the true meaning of a "swap-meet"   Guys were tading stuff back and forth, selling it for VERY FAIR PRICES.
  Was certainly interesting, and everyone was there for fun, not to make money.  It added alot to the meet, thats for sure.  So bottom line, allthough this is not a swapmeet, its "Pintos Only"  so I wouldn't hesitate to bring a few items that you no longer need etc.
  As allways,  Jim at   jimspinto
  Just an update !
   First,
   I never mentioned this, but........
   I want to tell all of that I'm............. .
  #1 not very good on the computer.
  #2  cant type, never learned how, just taught myself.
  #3  cant spell worth a damm.
   All of this is out so, please excuse all my typo's and spelling error's
   Now on to the up-date.
   A week or so ago, I took a drive thru the "Amish" country.
  Myself and a friend, with a clip-board.
   I'd driven for about ten hours or so.  I'd crossed over the same roads more than two or three times.  Seemed I'd found alot more than I'd thought were there.
   But........I'd managed to set-up a REALY NICE "convoy type cruise"  Just have to now put it on paper, in a "map style"
   The finished thing  [cruise]  wont take anywhere near 10 hours, in fact, I'm going to set it up so's any part could be "deleted"   as needed.
    I'd made about 10 or 12 stops.  At woodworking, harnes, specialty shops, general stores, gifts shops, and a jelly shop.  So there should be plenty of places of interest, and things for the women to buy.  We all know how they love to shop, and never for car parts. [ha ha]
   I have also stoped at three of the "Amish Style eatery's"   Haven't gotten anything from them, but......let them think about it for a while.  Hope it gets to were there "vying for us" [if you know what i mean]
   So, as you can see, I'm not sitting still, doing nothing.  Looking forward to a great get together and cruise, see you all there and then.
   Please email me with any question or suggestions.  I'v left out any informatiom about over-night places, but there available, so dont hesitate to ask if you need help
    Again, my opening statement. I'm not going to "edit" this. or look up any spelling.  If you see any "errors" just have fun laughing about them.
    Best to all for now,,,,,,,,,Jim at   jimspinto
I have another post going about this topic but just in case it helps the cause...I need to find a Cruising Wagon with the triple stripe pattern that I can get measurements from to have a new set of stripes made. Is anyone going to the Ohio gathering with such a car? I'm going to be there with the purple Pinto (that actually used to have the stripes till some tool removed them with a grinder...sigh ...) so I could do the work. Anyone going to be up that way with a Cruising Wagon?
    Flyerpinto.
     I looked for your [other] post on this subject.  Then had a problem with my computer.  A friend has fixed the problem [actually it was me, not the machine].  Havn't gone back to look, but I'd suggest that you ask everyone  [anyone]  thats coming for the measurements.  Possibly somebody has access to such a car, even though they dont own one
     I saw one in a "Trade Mag." a while back, cant for the love of me remember where or who it was.  Think it was  "Auto Trader"  that you pick-up for a buck or so at the local delli.  If you have more computer savvy then me, you might try and Google [or whatever] that name, see if it [you] turn something up
    Best of luck, and see you at the "Meet",   Jim at  jimspinto
    What am I doing ?.  I'm getting a headache trying to remember this.  I think it was a dealer [classic car dealer ?] in the "mid-western" part of the country.  Dont know why, but I seem to remember something like  "Ok"  or  "Ind"  [like there next to one another]
   At any rate, maybe this sends you in the correct dirrection, just hope your better with a computer then I am
    Again, the best to you & yours,  Jim at  jimspinto
 Attn.  Flyerpinto
  After I post this here, I'm going to try and P.M. you with this information.  I'm posting it here first, because I'm not very computer savvy, and seem to have trouble with messages.
   Yesterday  I noticed a 1977 Pinto "Cruising Wagon"  with a "For Sale" sign.  I stoped and looked, because of you question reguarding "the striping"   I looked from the car,as the place [business] wasn't open
   It looks like it could be original [faded paint and all] and the "multi colored" striping is mostly there,  [just the edges are gone]
   However, does this help you in any way.  Can I be of any help, pictures or something.
 How far away are you, would you like to come and look at the car.
   Alot of questions, I guess you'd best suggest something.  I took the phone number off the car, so I could always call the owner.
   Please advise,,,,,,,,   Jim at  jimspinto
  Yea ! except i didn't get that much information.  As I'd said in my post, the business was closed. so I only looked at the car from the drive.
   It seemed pretty solid, but the asking price was a little high [? ? ? ? ? ]
   If I remember it was $3200.00 O.B.O.   "O.B.O. are the key words here".
   As to high, I guess you also have to take into account that scrap in now at about $500.00  or so on a car.  I think this only comes into consideration when I'm buying, not when I'm selling, but scrap is high and most people seem to think they have a number one car.  [yada yada yada]
   At any rate, do call me, I will be happy to help you in any way that I can.  Best,,,,,,,Jim at jimspinto
Well, my definite yes has turned into a no. My uncle has a timeshare in Virginia and he has invited my Dad & I to go at no cost. We'll be leaving on Friday July 5 or Saturday July 6. We won't be getting back until Saturday, Sunday at the latest so I won't be able to make it. I missed out on the timeshare two years ago since I had no vacation time, but this time I won't miss out on it.
   Hey Guys & Gals.
   I apologize for not replying to questions [etc.] about "The Ohio Get Together" and heres the reason.
   Seems I first had some kind of a "virus" [or something] eating away at my "C file".
   Couldn't find it or fix it, took the machine to the "puter man"   He had it for a few days, and when I got it back there was one problem after the other.  I took it back [he had it for another few days]  Then told me the [new] problem was in the phone line, not the computer.
   Took the *%$*#@&%* phone company 5 days to come out and fix the line.  Five days to get here, ten minutes to repair the line, damm, damm, damm
   However, I back with a working computer [geezzee, I was lost without it]
             AND,------  THE "OHIO GET TOGETHER"  IS STILL ON ! ! ! ! !
   There's only a short time until July 12th.
   Only problem [at the moment] is that I'v lost all the information [like address of those who have commited]
   Botom line,  I'm not going to ask for the email address again, as my intention [originaly] was to send everyone an email, reminding them the date and etc.
   Please accept this as a reminder, the date is the 12th.  Location and time are the same, everything is in place, look forward to seeing everyone.
   Any questions, please post them here, or email me dirrect at "jimsfinefords@yahoo.com"
  Again, see you soon [ hope]  Have a wonderfull day, enjoy this great "pinto driving weather'
   Best to all,,,,,Jim at jimspinto
   But sure hope that the car is done.   [I should talk, my 71 Mustang has been apart for over a year now. Just cant seem to find the time]
   This is realy starting to look like something, seems we will have quite a few "pintos"
    I hope the weather works out and everything, I know were going to have a good time and "pinto cruise"
    Something I love to do, but not sure I'd get away with it.
    Middlefield is a big Amish area.
   Alot of places [as well as the parking lot we use] have a "hitching post"  for the Amish to tie-up there horses.
    If I thought I'd get away with it, I'd bring a bunch of rope, tie all the pinto's to the "hitching rail"
   Think that'd make a heck of a picture
    Maybe we could do it just for a photo, then give the Amish back ther parking places,
think about it [everyone] and give me a responce
   Best as always,  Jim at jimspinto
Hey Jim
Man I went un dunnit, I've made motel reservations at Super 8 in Beachwood, I
don't know who all are coming besides me, but I can fit 3 more in my room.
Is  Rt 87 Kinsman Rd all the way from Beachwood to Middlefield?  The map maker
must have been on more than caffein when they printed the route through Moreland Hills & Chagrin Falls, wow what a cluster you know what!!!
I know you da man & you will set me straight on the way to Middlefield.
As soon as I find out I will give you a head/Pinto count of who is going to be there.
I am looking forward to this get together I hope this Ohio weather will be good to us
for a change.
  Hey  Guy,
  Thats a yes, Kinsman road is Rt. 87.  If you were to stay on 87 [carefull at the "rotary"  everyone takes the wrong exit]  you'd get [go] to Midlefield
  You can also avoid Chagrin Falls etc.   When you'v left the motel, head EAST ! ! ! !
  Again were back to the "rotary"  [take your time here, I think the signs are the cause of everyone going wrong]  Let me try this ! ! !
   As you enter [rotary] theres a "stop" sign-- "BP STATION" on the left.  As you continue, the sign will [try to] send you down Rt 87 & 422 and into [thru] Chagrin Falls.  STOP ! --- DONT TAKE THIS EXIT [road]
   Continue on for about 25 /50 feet, to "Pine Tree Rd." [turn right]  Small house on the right, it used to be a bar, think its white or gray.  Strip Mall on the left.
  After you gone for only 100 feet, look to your right for a parking lot, with a "Goodwill" collection box and or trailer in it.  If you dont see it, turn around and try again.  Dont forget to say  "shizod" [think this helps ha ha]  If you see the "Box" , you'v done it ! ! !
  Continue on [its 35 mph, and ticketville] to the the stop sign, turn right.  Your back on Rt. 87, past the Falls and the B.S.
  Follow this to Midlefield, maybe five lights [but 15 / 20 miles]
    For what its worth, can you cancel your rev. at no cost.  Do you want to.  There are other places.  Think your coming up Interstate 271 [if your in Beachwood]   I could get you out of Beachwood [think its to near Cleveland] into Solon, Chardon, Burton. Tell me something
    If everything is good and you like Super 8 [etc.] can understand the information, see you on the 12th,,,,,,,,,,Jim at jimspinto
                                    See Ya in July  Dick
  Just answered "Postalpony"  see above.
  Dont know what the @#*#$ hell the lines are thru evertthing for, I didn't put them there.  Can you read it ?.   Better yet, do you see them on your computer, or are they only on mine ?
   Then I got to thinking, why's he asking for drictions, about Hotels and etc.  Cant he read my earlyer post and answers / directions.
   Talk about a senior moment, all that information and etc. was / is in my email box, not here on this site.  I havn't gone there yet today, but if enyone needs something / or thinks I should post such information here, please say something
  Another thing,  My upstairs,  2nd floor of my garage, with its fold out bed, is still available.
  Again it aint the "Ritz" but its [almost] clean. has a toilet, running water, even electricty.  Probably its redemption is the cost [free]  first come first serve, so speak up.
  Talk with you soon, I'm going on to my email, again if posting hotel etc. information here is of any value, say something.  Best Jim at jimspinto
The Lines occur when you put html or bbc codes in your posts by accident or click on a button above the smilies. You can always re-edit your posts and remove these incorrect or unwanted characters if needed.
In this case, I went in and did this for you...
    Thank you very much, its great how those that know how work a computer, and / or understand a site completly are willing to help us that are just learning.
    That thing about teaching an old dog new tricks has some merit.  Although I seem to be able to learn, it takes me a little longer.
   OK guys, the "line problem is solved, now all I have to do is find out how I did it.  Not realy worth a lot of work. I'll try to see what I did latter
    Re. Hotels & bed and breakfeast places.
     I'v been informed [thru another member that most of the ones that I'd suggested are a bit high in price
    Seems most of us [car owners] are on the older side [old farts] and that dreaded "fixed income" thing.
   I know I'm there, as well as living in the past [the past was / is great, dont knock it]
   Anyhoo,
   Starting with places close to the cruise area [place]
    Red Maple Inn [in Burton about 3 miles from cruise]
    14707 South Cheshire st Burton, Ohio  440 834 8334
    Punderson Manor House [in Newbury about 6 miles to cruise area, place]
    Rt 87, Newbury Ohio [in Punderson State Park]  ! 800 282 7275
   Chardon Motel  [this might be the lower price of all in the area [? ? ?]  Nothing to wright home about but clean, and safe area
   In Chardon Ohio, 6 or 7 miles from cruise area
   526 Water Street Chardon Ohio 1 866 835 9187
   Renaissance Quail Hollow [in  Concord Twp. about 10 or 12 miles from cruise area]
   Interstate 90 and Ohio St. Rt. 44   440 352 6201
    ********   These might be lower in price ???????????
    There all in neighboring towns.
    Just names & numbers, if you need / want directions, post here or email me at jimsfinefords@yahoo.com or 440 591 8381 [cell]
      Best Western, Mentor Ohio  800 528 1234  or  440 205 7378
      Amerihost Inn, Concord Twp.  440 210 4513
      Comfort Inn, Mentor Ohio   440 951 7333
      Days Inn, Willoughby Ohio   440 946 0500
      Motel 6, Mentor Ohio   440 953 8835
      Red Roof Inn, Willoughby, Ohio  440 946 9872
     For what its worth, I did some research and got the above names &  numbers because I was told the prices of the first few places were rather high [$100.00 plus per night ?]  Suggest you check prices
   For anyone thats coming up from the south.  Interstate 71, 76, 77, and 271.  You will approach the south west part of this area.
   I REALLY suggest that you continue on  [use interstate 271] towards the lake and the northeastern area.  Hate putting something down [for the world to see] that could possibly come back to bite me, but I dont think ANYTHING along Iterstate 271 is that safe.
   And again, The upstairs [2nd floor of my garage] is available.  First come first serve, and as yet nobody has spoken for it.
   I repeate,  Its not the "Ritz" but it [almost ha ha ] clean.  Has a fold out couch [bed] running water, tolet, even electric power and a phone.
   Its redenption [if it needs one] is the price, just remember you get what you pay for and this "aint no ritz"  but its free
   Hope to see you at the "Get Together"   best for now Jim at jimspinto
  Hi everyone, just a "quicky"
      Got a phone call from "pastalpony" the other day  [he sounds like a hell of a nice guy, almoust like were cut from the same mold, ha ha]
       He tells me that Motel 6 [in Mentor, see above post on same] is [aprox, cant remember] $66.00 per day.  He has made all the phone calls, and although all the others may offer something more, the costs run from the $60.00's thru about $150.00
       If your just looking for a place to rest your head, and dont want any of the extras, like a mint on your pillow etc. then it looks like "Motel 6 is your best buy
     Mentor is a safe, clean [well policed] city, and not a hard route to Middlefield, if you have a question, "postalpony" says "send him a message, question"
     Look forward to seeing all, Jim at jimspinto
  First an "apology" Re. the above post.   Its POSTALPONY, not pAstalpony, just remember, I cant type ! Thanks.
  Now for the reason for this post.
  The 12th is just arround the corner,  I'm both nervous and anxious at the same time.
   My choice of words may not have been too good. "Ohio" as in "Ohio Get Together"
    Not to slight any of the Ohio Pinto owners, I want to [redundantly] say that. not only is the get together open to everyone, I welcome our neighbors.  We are not that far from Penn. and a very reasonable drive from our other neighbors, Indianna, Kentucky,West Virginia, Michigan & New York.  I think it would be "FANTASTIC" to have some representation from any of these states.  And your certianly welcome, please come.
   I have just 2nd guessed my thinking, maybe I should post this notice under "general information"   To everyone else, look  forward to seeing you all.
   Best, Jim at jimspinto
   Hi, Everyone.
   I was just looking on here [as I do almoust every day] and noticed there were "3325 hits"
   Thought, wouldn't that be a hell of a "Pinto Showing"   Over 3000 Pinto's all at one time, in one place, talk about a show of power
  Anyhoo, was just checking to see if anyone needed anything etc. [re. "the ohio get together"] when I saw the 3325 hits.
  So, back to reality for a moment.  Does anyone need anything, are all 3325 going to be at the meeting ?  O.M.G. !
  Its only a short time until the 12th, hope to see you there, call me or email me if I can be of any help.
Jim,
I'll certainly be there, I've made my reservations and I'm good to go! I'm still trying to get up there to measure those stripes as well. I'll be staying at the Days Inn in Willoughby Friday and Saturday night. If nothing is going on Saturday night I'll just come home early, but I love to roam. Must be a Pinto thing.
    Hey, Flyer AND EVERYONE ELSE ! ! ! !
    If your going to be in town friday (or anytime before the meet] contact me, there are plenty of cruises around.
    We could burn up some of that cheep fuel with out a problem, lots to see also [although most places are closed at night)
    Cleveland / Akron etc. arent realy recommended after dark (same for most big citys ?) but there's always the small towns & places around the city(s).
   I always try to tell my car friends (both of them, ha ha) we should try to expose ourselfs and our cars to new places and different people.  Get a chance to see different cars and etc.  Take the time to travel to cruises away from home, you'll be rewarded
  Love to go to out of the way cruises with the pinto, because (I swear) it gets more attention then cars of of much greater value (please, I ment dollars not fealings)
   I could go on and on with this, but I'm sure you get the idea.  If you in town earlyer, and want to do a bit of cruisen, call me
  Thanks for the time and see you soon,,,, best Jim at jimspinto
    I never even noticed there was both "{ }" & "[ ]"
   Between my eyesight, lack of spelling, lack of computer and typeing savvy, I guess anything is possible.  I thank you for this information, and will make a note of it, give it a try
I don't know what the "{}" will do, but if you go back and modify your posts from "[]" to "()" (above the "9" and "0") you will get rid of the lines.
The "[]" are used to make changes in this text, so when you use them the program thinks you are making a request for a change.
  A quick note, because I'm so excited about this.
  I just received and answered (or tried to) an email from a Pinto owner in Mich.
  Seems she is thinking about coming to the "Ohio Get Together"
  What started out as a crazy idea, has blossomed into Pinto(s) from Mich. and possibly Ind.
  So, if your still in the thinking stage, your neighbors are going to make you look bad.
Jim,
Just to clarify, your early post said ~3pm.  The newest post says ~10am.
   THANKS,  And to "clarify"
   Cant remember  what the h*** I said about 3pm.  You younger folks have this to look forward to (memory).   However, anybody can of course do what ever they want. the objective would be to HAVE FUN.
   What I have planed (planed out) is to meet early in the morning, was hopeing for about 10am,  then do the "convoy - cruise"  --  A tour of the amish settelments, with a few stops at amish shops.  gfit shops,  a homemade jelly shop etc.  Then a stop for lunch (at an amish family style place, its very nice & low cost).  Then back to the meeting place.  Theres a cruise going on (starts at 5pm).  Hopefully there will be lots of other cars (none pinto) to view, and they will make a big thing of us being there
  I still have alot to do, signs and all, just jumped on here to see if anyone had any questions.  Been to the store and picked up some welcomeing gifts etc.  Have to make up the "goodie bags" and etc.   Frank Canon was nice enough to make up the "Ohio Get Together" stickers (and there real nice, you'l like them)  Evetything, weather and all, is looking good, see you saturday
  I had a thought, will say something about it saturday, but also put it down here so's those who see it can give it some thought also
  Thought what if we had a raffle of sorts.  with the cost of a ticket on the higher side (maybe $5.00 or $10.00 each) winer gets all the money.  Could even get high enough to pay for the gasoline back home (ha ha)
  best to all,,,,,,,,,Jim at jimspinto
Looks like you guys (and gal) had a wonderful time out there!  Wish I could have come.  Between making it to both Carlisle and Tulsa this year, I saw more Pintos last month than I had seen in the past twenty years or so!  It appears that you had some great ones in Ohio today too!
  TO EVERYONE, even those who were unlucky enough to have missed the meet.
                       ------------------    I think it was "fantastic"  ---------------------
  Was wonderful to see all those great Pintos, and of course there owners.  I wonder if those Pintos know how lucky they are to have such great owners
   Even though it rained in the afternoon (wasn't forcast to rain] Everyone had a good time, and believe me, I would (will) do it again.
  Dinner was good also, it was great of the Amish Resturant to set-aside a room especially for us
   I want to take the time to thank everyone who came, also thank Frank for his help and the vinal stickers
   I cant say enough about Pinto owner as a group, great bunch of guys & girls, and for those of you who missed it, you sure missed a great time. Hope you can make it next year
   THANK YOU, EVERYONE,,,,,,,,Jim
   I jumped back on here because I forgot something (theres no need for any comments from the "old guys"]
   #1   Whoever has the "email addresses" (and that was a great idea) could you please send them to me.  I'd like to (try) set-up a group, a pinto group, in my contact / address book.  I'm not very good with a computer, but I think I could stumble thru it if I had the addresses
  #2   Those of you (us) who took pictures, PLEASE, PLEASE, send them to Frank Canon and / or me.  I'm thinking that some of the ones I took will come out (even thou I didnt know how to work that "high tech" camera)
   Thanks again for everything,  Your all a great bunch, it was wonderful to see you and your pintos,,,,,,,,,Jim
   Thanks Guy,
       I'v been talking with Frank (both by phone & computer) and he put alot of effort and help into the meet also.  So thanks to him also.
      It was a fantastic meet and alot of fun (sure worth the time & work, I will gladly do it again next year)  What a great bunch of Pinto owners (and Pinto's} here in Ohio (don't forget Mich.)   I'm going to (try to) set up a group in my address book, so's we can keep in touch etc.
     I'v already received several emails (even a phone call) telling me how much fun everyone had.  I just couldn't be happier, so while I'm sending this, I want to take the time to thank all those who attended
    Thanks again and best to all,,,,,,Jim at jimspinto
  Jumped back on here because theres another issue......... .
  I have several other cars, that have been neglected because of the Pinto and the meet.
  Just to calm them down (or try to) I will have to take them all out for a spin
  This will possibly take the rest of the summer, but I will realy have to bite the bullet, and suffer thru it though, just to make them all happy.
  So, if you dont hear from me that often, its because of the punishment I will have to suffer (all summer long) for neglecting the other cars.
  Thanks again & again for the opportunity and the great meet, sure was fun !
 best,,,Jim at jimspinto
  I just looked on here, and see ALMOST 4700 views, and OVER 125 posts.  Its sure an example of how great ALL OF YOU PINTO OWNERS ARE.  And SEVEN PAGES, WOW !
 I cant get over how successfull the meet was, and again, 4700 hits & 125 posts is an example of what kind of people you are.
 I want to (again ?) thank each & every one of you for making a GREAT meet and an OUTSTANDING time come about.  Couldn't have done it without you ! ! !
 I would think that sooner or latter, the "webmaster(s)" will shut this part of the site down, as the meet is over.  Until then, I will be checking here for any notes or messages, but thought I'd take advantage of it still being here to (again ?) say THANK YOU.
 Your a great bunch of people, and I look forward to seeing, talking to you all.  Best Jim at jimspinto
Hey guys!
I just got back to the internets from my week of vacation.
Thanks to all the guys who bought my stuff and I have more news from more of my trip...
My wife's Uncle gave, yes, GAVE me two 8.8" spools, 3.73 gears, and poly bushings for my car. :D
Her cousin, *might* have a cam for me...
