Western Idaho gathering?
« on: October 16, 2013, 08:30:59 PM »
I'm wondering if there are enough in South Western Idaho, including Eastern Oregon, and maybe Northern Utah to have a meet? I met Dave of course and we can probably talk for hours about our Pintos - kinda funny how this little car can have such an impact on people! I suppose it's kind of like my Vega I sold, but not like the Pinto!

So who would be interested in having a meet? Anyone?

Nampa, Idaho is the ideal location. Not as big and crowded as Boise and has a bunch of places we can eat, meet and so on.

Let me know if anyone is interested? I also have a big parking lot behind my office that has plenty of parking spaces and there are restaurants and other places to see. Heck I think it would be fun! My church does a car show every year and I bet if there are enough of us we can get trophies and other stuff :)

I'm way down in Provo, UT but I would be totally down to taking a road trip up to Boise/Nampa.

I'd love to be there to, just let me know when! I do my own schedules at work, so I can work something out! :)

Utah to Boise/Nampa isn't to bad of a trip, Brassaw. I have made that trip a couple times as my daughter's God Father used to live down there. Drove my 78 Sedan to! Fun trip in the Pinto with the tunes going and driving through the valleys and up and down mountains. Classic car road trips at some of the best things a classic car owner can do, very rewarding when you know your old car can make a long distance drive without any issues!

I can't do freeway trips in the Pinto now, however. I have a lower geared 3.11:1 rear axle now and at 65MPH I'm spot on at 3000 RPM! I just don't feel comfortable with that. Need to find myself a T5 transmission so I have that overdrive gear and can drop the engine RPM back down to 2500 RPM at 70MPH.

We need to get a bunch of people Dave. If we do, I'd be will to rent some space for it at the Idaho Center here in Nampa actually. Have breakfast served and so on! I don't know how many people are around here.

It wouldn't be a long trip, or a bad trip. We are opening an office in Provo and I drive back and forth - NOT for winter mind you! Trophies and everything too! :D I think this would rock!

I'm thinking Spring or Summer. If we have enough, I'd be willing to pay for a room at the Idaho Center. If we charge something we could actually get breakfest and lunch and a final day with a BBQ or something.

What do you think Karl?

I would really like to see a Pinto enthusiasts gathering in Id. I'm not sure if there are enough to warrant the cost at the Idaho Center but we have other venues like the area wineries and many small towns like Homedale with camping on the Snake River or some RV campgrounds that host flea market events, etc. But I would be happy to help just let me know what I could do.

It's going to depend on if we get enough people. I'm in Nampa, where are you? I would think Washington, Utah, Oregon, and some other surrounding states would be good. The Nampa Recreation Center would be good also and is cheap to rent, I've used it for press releases and things. And there is plenty of camping and cheap rooms in the area also.

Just a thought!

My wife and I live on the Snake River across from Homedale but address is in Wilder district. I have attended a few auto gatherings in Caldwell, Adrian, Marsing and the sprint boat races, gun shows. I hope we can persuade people to visit.

I would love to combine it with a gun show ;)  I run www.republicgu nforum.com - that might increase attendance :D

We have a friend who can tell me info. re: Homedale Annual Gun Show at the Armory building (fairgrounds) if you like. I can ask about this if you like, it would take a day or so before I could respond about it. The campground is a short distance from there and could make a nice backdrop for photos of cars, just a thought.
