« on: Today at 06:26:30 AM »- The Pinto vs Maverick Car Show Challenge is this weekend!!! The weather is looking spectacular!! The Mavericks and Comets are coming in force so we need all your Pintos and Bobcats!!!
We are presenting this year's The Ohio Get Together event:
The Pinto vs Maverick Car Show Challenge 2015......Saturday August 22nd, Geneva-on-the-Lake, OHIO
Pintos and Bobcats and Mavericks and Comets, Oh My!
At last year's Pinto Picnic Pitch-In 2014, we invited the Maverick Comet Club International (MCCI) as our invited guests. On the day of the show we developed a "friendly" competition at which club would show up with the most cars. The final official count was a dead heat tie. This year we are presenting a challenge to both clubs and the club with the most cars present at the 10am start time will lead in the police escort thru "The Strip" of Geneva-on-the Lake. (Go to YouTube.com and type in 2014 Pinto Picnic Pitch-In for a cool video set to "Pinto" music of the fun last year!!)
If you have never been to Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio, you will want to see this!!! It is a strip of bars, restaurants, shops, wineries, arcades and gaming in a town that never left the 50's and 60's with a beautiful back drop setting on Lake Erie. We will show the cars just a short walk off "The Strip" at The Geneva Township Park with the same beautiful Lake Erie back drop. The town is packed with visitors in the summer many of which came to see our cars last year!!
We will meet at the Chops Grille and Taphouse parking lot, 1752 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio 44041 (across from the Motel 6) at the SR 534 exit
just off I-90 10am sharp and caravan thru "The Strip" with police escort to the park.
A pavilion has been reserved for a "Pinto Picnic Pitch-In" at noon. We will provide the hamburgers, hot dogs, and all the fixins. If the year of your car is odd, bring dessert and if the year of your car is even, bring cold side dish (no electricity). Bring your own beverages.We will have door prizes, 50/50, T-shirts, music... and more! Supporting the Wounded Warrior Project.
We will leave the park at 3pm and caravan to Annabelles Diner 20 miles west in Mentor, Ohio for a well attended Saturday night Cruise-In at a super cool 50's diner with live band for more Pinto/Bobcat fun!!! (Last year the band recognized the "Pinto Presence" to the crowd.)
(I have been informed by the Maverick Comet Club International (MCCI) that their National Event this year is in Washington, PA one month before our show and they will be aggressively promoting our event so we need the Pinto Gang to come out in force! - The Pinto club members will pick their favorite top 3 Maverick/Comets and the Maverick Club members will pick their favorite top 3 Pinto/Bobcats for some really cool awards!!

- The Northeast Mustang Club of Ohio has invited us to an all Ford show in Mentor, Ohio for our evening event.
- We plan to CRASH THEIR PARTY.

This year the Pintos/Bobcats will vote their top favorite 3 Mavericks/Comets and the Maverick/Comets will vote their top favorite 3 Pintos/Bobcats for some really cool trophies!!

I've been gone for way too long... I honestly don't know if I will be there this year or not. I would like to get to one of them since that has yet to happen. I really wanna get the 80 on the road and take her to a car show this year but only time will tell. I still need to complete the engine swap, and get the car registered, and insurance back on the car.

Thanks Dwayne. Life has been kicking my butt and the car itself is still covered in junk. I've yet to do anything to the car since I moved to the house. The 77 sits outside, awaiting the demo, and the 80 sits in the garage without the hood

So True. I dunno... What I might go ahead & do is get in my 2015 Chevy Sonic and go. Car gets 40 MPG on the freeway so either way, Pinto or Sonic I wouldn't have to spend an insane amt on gas.

Thanks Phil. Although it would be nice to drive the 80 there it would prolly be risky to do so since it hasn't seen the road on a regular basis since 2008. Dunno. If I can get her going I have AAA. If not the Sonic has yet to make a road trip since I bought her. Brand new with 14 miles when I signed the papers.

If you remember, Matt, I wasn't able to bring my Pinto to Carlisle for the 40th in 2011. I drove my 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible instead. I met up with the Stampede at the Flight 93 Memorial and drove in with the group nonetheless. I stayed to the rear so as not to detract in any way from the Pintos and, despite being Pinto-less, I had a ball! Take the Sonic... better safe than sorry. Just being around all those Pintos and Mavericks might jump-start your interest and recharge your batteries, so to speak. In fact, I can pretty much guarantee it! I'd love to bring my Squire and join the folks in Ohio but my wife just isn't physically up to traveling much anymore and really can't stay home by herself either. We've found the only way we can travel any distance is if my son & daughter-in-law accompany us to help out... and that would end any ideas of driving the Pinto! On the other hand, I just finished saying it could be a blast even without the Pinto so maybe we'll see if we can schedule that for next summer. It's a meet I'd definitely like to attend at some point, Pinto or no Pinto.

That sounds like what I might end up doing. If anything I will have fun and that is the important part. While I would love to have the 80 there it would be fun just the same driving there with the sonic and seeing the other Pintos. This has distinct possibilities if I can't get the 80 going.

The Pinto vs Maverick Car Show Challenge evening event.
We have been invited by the NorthCoast Mustang Club of Ohio to an all Ford car show in Mentor, Ohio 20 miles west of Geneva-on-the-Lake.
We plan to crash their party!!
We will leave the park at 3pm to join them. They are very excited to see all the Pintos, Bobcats, Mavericks, and Comets.

The weather forecast is looking great at this time!!
We have been invited to the NorthCoast Mustang Club's all Ford show in Mentor for our evening event and they have informed me that their club will vote on their favorite Pinto, Bobcat, Maverick, and Comet. They will be giving out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies for this category.
We will filming another YouTube video of this event so don't miss it!!

Why oh why does it have to be on the same weekend as the Bristol Night Race.... My Dad is getting tickets to that, so once again I will be missing it. I give up. I'm not meant to go to the Ohio meet. I've yet to be able to make one, and it seems to be as cursed as the blasted trip to Carlisle, or the Pinto in general for me.

Hey Rob, keep the forecast sunny and warm as we plan to add another Pinto to the Get Together next weekend. Enjoyed last year's event very much, look forward to this year's. We'll see you on Friday!

Beautiful weather, police escort, delicious picnic on the Lake, cool people, etc. etc.!!!
BUT......
We were stampeded by the Mavericks

The Pintos/Bobcats have requested a re-match so look for an announcement for next year's show:
"The Pinto vs Maverick Car Show Re-Match" in 2016 Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio same location.
