2013 Pinto Beach Gallup
Bring your Pintos and Bobcats!!
Where: Huntington Beach California
When: Sunday, August 11th 2013
Hey Pinto people! So it's summer and that means it's time for the Pinto Summer Beach Gallup here in Southern California!! I know I've been talking to people about doing this and the response was very positive, so the PintoBarn crew is ready to get the event going. Basically, it's a cruise/beach/tailgate cookout/Pintofun day.
Basically the idea is this: We can all meet up here at http://thepintobarn.com around 11 AM. The shop is in Costa Mesa just 3 minutes up the Hill from the Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach. We will have snacks, drinks, and it's a good place to hang out and get the cars lined up to cruise. The cruise will take us up PCH through Huntington Beach past the pier. There will be some stoplights and we may get separated but we will regather near GoldenWest Blvd. and cruise up Main street in Huntington and back out to PCH heading South to loop back.
Then it's time to head to the sand. We will Gallup into the Huntington Beach State Park at Magnolia Ave. There is an entry fee for each car for the entire day, I think it is $20.00 a day. If you have an annual state park pass it's free...... There are showers, restrooms, the ocean, sand, etc.... We will reserve a fire pit and fill the lot with Pintos! You can bring food and drinks for tailgating, just don't forget your sunscreen and beach towels. I will probably cook up a huge batch of my famous North Carolina BBQ for the event, you'll want some!!!
This is an open event for Pinto owners and enthusiasts to have some fun. We have extra Pintos that will need drivers, so if you'de like to drive one of our ponies in, let me know.
our Ace mechanic Joey (aka Pinto Joe) will be there with his bag of tricks and his custom 73 wagon..
Melinda and Lil Black, Earl and his Turbo wagon, Pinto Tim from Monrovia, hopefully Jacob and the Rebelwagon, Brian vonkysmeed and FrankenPinto, Becky and Ruby or Moxie, and I will have 4 pintos and my Bobcat wagon there as well.......... ...
And that's just for starters. We want YOU and your Pinto(s) to join in!!!!

We did! We met at the famous Pinto Barn, where Pinto magic happens at the adept fingers of Steve and Pinto savant Joey. I got to see several works in progress and met many new Pinto friends and learned that Steve's friend Christy is an innovative photographer and has her studio at Pinto Barn. After we were all present and accounted for, we took a scenic cruise through Huntington Beach and Newport Beach, getting thumbs up, waves and even pictures taken! Finally we hit the State beach, where we had delicious barbeque of three-THREE!- different kinds of Carolina regional specialties on Hawaiian sweet rolls washed down with sweet tea and chased with cookies and brownies. Oooh... the chicken salad was to die for! We talked Pinto, got lots of sun and a few of us braved the chilly surf-which turned out to be refreshing! We watched the cute antics of Brian's (Vonkysmeed) little boy Nicholas and his new-found friend, an adorable little girl who could melt your heart with her playful eyes (I can't remember her name). What a wonderful day it was! The only thing that would've made it better is if more folks came! Thank you Steve, Christy, Joey and his posse, Brian and Nico, Jake (who bought the white '75 wagon from Steve) and his family, Juan, and all the others who I can't name on account of my being dumb about names for making this a wonderful way to spend a summer day! :)
