Post by: pimpin_pinto on July 30, 2004, 10:18:32 PM
will the seats out of a 77 or 78 mustang 2 giah(front and back) fit into a 76 pinto runabout? How about the door panels? i have doubts bout the panels, but i'm pretty sure the seats will, i think there are some people who know better then me though......thanks.

Seats will bolt right in.  Doors are different (I think).

as wvBobcat77 has posted, the seats will bolt right in.  the mustang II is nothing more than a mustang and a pinto rolled into one car. i call them Mustos. i've fortunatly for you have had my run in with buying mustang II parts to throw on a pinto, body panels wont fit worth a damn. heres pretty much all that will bolt to a pinto from a mustang II. seats, rear end assembly, rims, steering column, gauges, and steering linkages.    your welcome.

Dad and I always called them a pinto II. I saw a nice looking one driving down the street the other day. I haven't ever seen a fastback m2 before.

were the fastbacks common? I'd never seen one until the other day. All I see are the notchbacks, but m2s are even less common than pintos around here. It could just be the local selection.

There used to be several of them around here.  All the Cobra IIs and King Cobras were fastbacks.
I still rremember the day my mind changed on the Mustang IIs.  I used to hate them, then one night, back in the late 70's or early 80's, I was criusing around with a buddy in his '69 Chevy pickup, and a fastback MustangII pulled out of McDonald's and lit up the tires.  The guy just took off sideways down the road.  From my vantage point, it looked SO cool.  Ever since then, I kinda liked those cars.

I think the fastbacks were fairly common, maybe not 50-50 with notchbacks, but common enough. I owned a notchback and I remember seeing a late 70s fastback in my hometown. I never understood why they needed "fastback" Mustangs *and* Runabout Pintos.

Hmmm? Has anyone tried swapping with fox body mustangs?  The Mustang II website has a nice walk-thru on how to do it for a Mustang II . . . should work with Pinto, too, right?.   I plan to give it a go and will post the results.

THat Info should work perfectly for bolting foxstang seats into your Pinto. Like was mentioned before the Pinto & 'StangII are pretty much the same car.

like i said before, the mustangII is just slightly biger than the pinto, but they all had the same suspension components, rear ends, and seats. fok body's are a bit more boxy, andcame with4 link suspension out back, rigin sometn up for seats would probably be advised
