I recall reading that someone used an external BMW electric fuel pump for their Turbo Pinto conversion. Is my memory in fact correct? If so any models to look for? I found a number of them in the J-yard today.
Thanks, Tom
A lot of guys have used an F150 electric fuel pump with good success. Dont know about the BMW pump but im sure they are more expensive.
i picked up the walbro 255 external inline for mine. ive read a lot of good reviews on turboford.net. i found new ones on ebay for $119.

Thanks for info about the F150. At this coming weekends 50% off Pick a Part sale I can get ANY external electric fuel pump for $11. I assume one only needs to get a pump equal to or relatively greater then the original pressure and the regulator will take care of the rest??? What is the stock T/C fuel pump, about 45 Lb's?

I knew I saw something regarding a BMW fuel pump with a 2.3 Ford:
From - http://www.blindchickenracing.com/How_to/T-bird_install/2_3_ford_install.htm
"The next step was to get a fuel pump that would handle at least 39psi (according to the shop manual). I picked up a rotary fuel pump from a fuel injected BMW that looked like it would fit the bill. It came with a convenient bracket with the fuel filter attached. My fuel tank is mounted in the front so the pump got installed directly under it with the fuel filter mounted on that."

Whats the best way to hook up the new fuel pump? I have a 190 walpro external pump. I was thinking I might just run a wire back from the pump to a switch inside the car to the battery. I was originally going to spice into the original in tank fuel pump but I am worried about loosing power.
id do it with a relay set up to switch the pump on when the ignition is in the on position. run a fused wire from the battery + to the number 30 on the relay. use a beefy wire, i think i either have 12 or 14 gauge. number 85 on the relay to a good ground. number 86 to ignition on. number 87 to the fuel pump. again with a beefy wire, i ran 14 to my pump.
wouldnt be a bad idea to run an inertia switch inline to the fuel pump in case of an accident.

I do not understand what do the numbers stand for?
numbers are on the bottom of the relay, there might also be a diagram on the side. 85&86 energize the coil which closes the contacts allowing the high current to travel from 30 to 87.
Do you need some help wiring your pump in Dylan?

yeah, if you look at the bottom of the relay youll see the numbers. they are right by the terminals.
