I,m mixing parts hear I have a 1980 bottom end and a D port open chamber head shaved 50.000 using a ranger rollercam . what timing numbers do I use ? the pinto bottom end the timing is 6btdc don,t know what the ranger is need something to get me in the ballpark thanks everyone
10* BTDC seems to work well for me, gives you about 36* total advance.
I would use the bottom end timing numbers but I would retard a bit due to the compression increase....I would start at 4 BTDC...when increasing the compression it is not good to light the charge to soon otherwise your defeating the purpose of the increased compression. To find the optimum setting do a vacuum time and then add 1 degree advanced from there and leave it. Use hi-test or a mix of 50% regular and 50% e-85 ethanol.
