Title: Stung by the crumble bee
Post by: popbumper on June 25, 2008, 11:02:44 PM
Well, third night of owning the car, decided to dop some more work. Oh yeah, you guessed it, since my instrument cluster lights were not working, I thought it a fine idea to disassemble the unit and check it out. You know, a simple project to while away an hour or two  ::)

Top panel two screws, no problem; second interior bezel, great, then this cracked mess of white crumbling nastiness that - oh yeah, I remember now, I recall somewhere where I read about this...

Before posting this, I did a search, and Philstoys posted back in 2006:

..... i have a 76 wagon. from what i have seen the 76 was the worst year  for them falling apart (crumbling)

WONDERFUL, since I TOO have a '76 wagon. I barely got it back together, now the gas gauge reads full, no lights come on at all (one of them USED to)....

I will repost in "PARTS WANTED", but please, if anyone has one of these intact, I want it from you. Having experience in both urethane casting/molding and printed circuit board manufacture, I will REDESIGN this stupid thing so that we can all have something modern, reliable and hassle free.

ANYONE??

Chris

I am having a few sent to me, I am going to take a stab at reproducing them. It's a badly needed piece.
