Title: Electrical-Dash lights
Post by: phils toys on June 22, 2008, 03:12:06 PM
Problem... No dash lights for fuel gage or spedo or high beam indicator, but all the other dash lights work (wiper switch, heater controls, shift indicator all other guage lights work as well [alt, seat belt, tailgate])
Tried  replacing
all bulbs
different cluster
3 different switches
checked all fuses
checked coninutiy in cluster and wire harness both appear ok.
high beams work

i do not know what else to look for or check any ideas??
it makes night driving  difficult.

Are you getting power at the plug to the cluster?

I agree w/ 77turbopinto, since your other illumination lights work that means the H/L switch is providing power to the circuit. Check for 12V at the cluster connector, light blue/red stripe for dash lights, light green/black for high beams.

I Finlay got it   i rechecked all the light sockets  and bulbs, and used contact cleaner  on all contacts   and adjusted the circuit board a bit   now everything is working . i just don't understand why the same things on 2 different  compleat
clusters were not working    i guess it was just strange coincidence
