Yep, we're not pulling 8's in this thing. Its a golf cart, not a top fuel funny car ;-)
We are pulling 12.5's though @102 mph

There is a youtube video linked there as well as the timeslip
if anyone feels so inclined to run up the vote on the car there at Dragtimes, there isn't a Pinto yet in the Featured Car of the Month club, but there are four other electrics. Damn Gremlin even made it in there along with a bug :amazed:
Anyone on this thread can hop over to this other thread I started a ways back before we got the car rolling. There's some detailed info there: Ford Pinto World Headquarters » Forum » Your Cars, Your Experiences, Your Web Sites... » Your Racers (Moderator: 78pinto) » Topic: The Electric Pinto
Basically what we have here is the (unofficially) 2nd fastest Street Bodied, Street Legal electric conversion vehicle in the world. There are certainly faster electrics such as the Kiilcycle and Current Eliminator running in the 7's and some modified conversions running in the 10's and 11's. But our car is a basic bone stock Pinto. OK I added roll bars to stiffen the chassis, and a 9" rear end to take the 1,000 ft-lbs we are throwing at it. But we have the stock 8" rear end to swap in to run the bone stock conversion class of the National Electric Drag Racing Assocoiation. www.nedra.com
No its not an 8 second machine. But it'll beat most of the Vipers and Vettes that run at our track. And if it isn't embarssing enough being beat by a Pinto, you should see the faces of the guys when they find out its powered by two electric forklift motors,
With the smaller BFG Drag Radials on 14" rims we were pulling 1.69 60 ft times but were topping out at 97 mph. We've since swapped to some Hoosier 275/60R15's in an effort to get the trap speeds over 100 mph. We'll we got it there two weekends ago to 102.2mp and are going to work on decreasing all of our contact resistances (minimize all the connection lossess) in an effort to get the maximum amount of power into the motors. We've got 360 volts and 1500 amps to play with from the batteries. In nominal values thats 540 kilowatts (half a Megawatt) or 724 HP. Realastically though with battery sag, connection losses and drive line inefficiencies we are probably seeing 485 HP at the wheels. Thats enough to make a 3200 lb cars spin up pretty quick. It turns a lot of heads when we light up the water box and there's not a sound to be heard but sizzling rubber ;)

Hey electrabishi!
Thats your car? I love it! I wanted to build an electric Pinto for my senior project when I graduated in Engineering but I built an all-terrain vehicle instead. Do you have a build of the car online? I was looking at buying the Lectric Leopard Fiat Strada thats on that website. Still a big project but I would LOVE and electric car!
Its not too late. You can still build one ;D
I have details of the build here:
http://www.evalbum.com/1093
Also the Dragtimes.com submittal:

We're currently in the #1 spot to be Featured Car of the Month for October.
But its to early to quit voting. Visit this site and plug us a vote each day for a few days so we can hold onto it.
Also do a Youtube search for "Electric Crazyhorse Pinto" and you'll find a bunch of video's from this summer at the track. There's even a shot of us on the Dyno making 1260 ft-lbs and 300+ HP to the wheels across the whole RPM range.
enjoy.
