Consecutive Unit Number
The last six digits of the Vehicle Identification Number indicate the
Consecutive Unit Number of each unit built at each assembly plant.
The Consecutive Unit Numbers begin as follows:
100 001 thru 600 000 - Ford, LTD II, Granada, Mustang, Thunderbird,
Fairmont, Pinto, Ranchero.
During that era all Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln vehicles' first digit in the VIN was the last digit of the model year. Thus, a VIN beginning with a 9 would be a 1979 model. Your VIN begins with a 0 so your car is a 1980.
