I've heard that the only difference between the 1979 and 1980 models were that the front fenders had a crease line in 1980. I've also got a front bumper that has the black ends designed a little differently. Any other variations between the years?
I never noticed the difference in fenders. I'll look closer next time I see a '79. I have noticed the bumper ends are a little different. I *think* the pattern on the seat upholstery is different, and probably some of the emission equipment is different as well.
Rubber strip on the 79 bumpers are the only difference you'll ever see.
I've never seen a crease line in the front fenders of a '79 or an '80. My '79 doesn't have any. The only rubber I had on my bumper was 3 pads bolted to the outside of the front, two in the back. no center stripe. I have a pony though. Maybe other models had the stripe?
I think the most noticeable difference is the fact that 1980 Pinto's had rectangular headlight?

Well, it's not quite
that easy. :P The '79s had the rectangular lights also.
If it helps anyone, here's what the front and back of my '79 pony looked like when I got it. It has had a hard life and been in a few wrecks, and was found abandoned on the freeway before I got it, so things aren't quite the same colors and parts don't always line up.
Bricker, what part of Oregon are you from?
I live in the hills of Philomath. 20min from Oregon State in Corvallis.
