I just found this on Craig's List...Might be worth looking into. I already have 3 (2 drivers and 1 parts wagon) and the other half will do unthinkable things if I bring another one home.

Man, that looks like a good deal! You should jump on that. However, I understand the whole part about fearing the ramifications of the deal...........
I too have been looking at this one, unfortunately because here in kaliforniastien we are governed by the dreaded smog police. This 78 has to pass smog in order to license it . :accident:>:( It would need a complete rebuild with completely functioning smog components or a modern v6 with all smog intact.

You are so right. This state should take another look at all the smog laws. With the unleaded fuels and all the other junk the state mandates for our fuel, I would imagine a good running old Pinto with no smog equipment would burn pretty clean. The fact that all of the original antiquated smog junk has to be intact and working, makes it almost impossible to put the older cars after 76 back into service (I believe that is the idea). This one needs a good home where all the smog stuff can be removed. The 73 and 75 wagons are SMOG EQUIPMENT FREE and I'll bet they don't pollute any more than most of the cars on the road simply because of the fuel we burn.
Curse the California smog laws, how am I ever going to sell this thing here?
