Title: Help to Brazil. 2.3/ C4
Post by: Murilo on June 10, 2008, 09:30:21 PM
I live in brazil. Here, we dont have ford´s pinto , but the ford maverick made in brazil (73-79)  has the same 4-cilynder engine (2.3 ohc-140 cid- 99 HP @ 5400 rpm and 16,9 mkgf (SAE) @ 3 200 rpm) used in the USA. I have a 78 maverick project, with a 2.3 engine, but i don´t have the original transmission. I bought a c4 also used in brazilian galaxie for a 302 cid. Differentely of the USA , here this configurantion (2.3/c4) is uncommom, and the c4 transmissssion is rare, it is also rare a professional specialist in C4 rebuilt.   I have some doubts about the original configuration (2.3/c4) such as: What is the configurantion of the bellhousing, torque converter and the flexplate used in a original 2.3 engine ? Is there any other parts to be changed ? Remember, my C4 was used in a 302 CID. I´m sorry but my english is so poor. I hope any help for this questions. Thank you.

Well, I am not sure exactly what you were asking, but here we go:

You will need a 2.3 bellhousing, flywheel, and torque converter.   You will need to find out what spline input shaft you have on the tranny, as well as length, and go from there.  Most likely you will need to get an input shaft that came out of a 4 cyl. car.  I hope this helps you in some way.

Ok. But I need to Know the specification of this parts (stall rpm, number of teeth´s  in flexplate and everything for the other parts , because I intent to import it from the USA. How is the original and usual specification of this parts? Question: Flywheel and flexplate are the same thing? I´ll find new parts in the USA ?  Thank you.
