Okay, I was thinking about creating some form of "Pinto parts network" at work today, and tonight I see some posts about parting out a demo car. The thing is, not every Pinto out there is a good candidate for returning to the road.

So, if you've got a Pinto that just isn't ponying up, please keep in mind that it still may have value as an "organ donor" for other Pintos out there.

I know that dash pads, steering wheels, and front seats are frequent problem areas, so if your (de)parting Pinto has such items in decent shape, they will be in high demand.

Door seals, window laces, and hatch gaskets are the main things I'm having trouble finding.

Just about any ford steeringwheel from the 70's (except LTD/T-BIRD) is the same size as a pinto wheel.  I know of 5 black wheels in ford trucks and vans that are in perfect condition.  A few with cruise controll....  Now if I can figure a way to hook the cable up to the throttle on my 2.0

I'm in the same boat, too. I need seals for my doors. But, I was looking at things people would typically be able to take off one car and use on another. Also, the poll program only gave me 8 options.

I should have put door handles on the list. It seems that every Ford pickup and car I've owned has the door handle break.

Yea,  and exterior Pinto handles are almost impossible to find.  If you go to an NOS dealer, the want a mint for them.

From the choices, I checked the dashpad, as most Pintos I have had or seen always seem to need one. I believe door weatherstrips are actually a bigger need, however. You can always drive a car with a bad dashpad, but it's tough explaining to the wife why she's getting wet riding in my favorite Pinto!

I just realized I should have included the 1.6L engine in the poll. No biggie, though...nobody needs Pinto engines.  ;D

Need parts???? You fellow PINTOers are missing the boat! Go see your local mini-stock races and get to know them all. They throw away more parts than you could use in a lifetime. They throw away doors, grills, hatchs, chrome, interiors, 8" rear ends, etc, etc. Get to know them one on one.

I know I pretty much need all the parts... I just bought one, and the engine's crapping out, tranny's pretty much gone, body's rusting.

The only good parts on the car is the interior... Believe it or not, the front seats are perfect, and the rest of the interior is in better shape than my 1985 Omni Turbo
