Title: Oil Pan Gasket
Post by: Wittsend on June 04, 2008, 01:20:44 AM
Me, who buys everything at swap meets and wrecking yards had a bit of "sticker shock" when I saw oil pan gaskets for the '88 Turbo Coupe 2.3 were in the $25-$30 range.  Are there any other alternatives out there?
Thank$, Tom

With all of the 2.3T swaps I have done, I re-used the Pinto rubber front and rear sections covered with RTV and RTV only on both sides. I have NEVER had one leak, but I did take a lot of time dressing the mating surface of the pan.

Thanks, Bill.  That was my first hope.  It kills me when I could buy a complete engine at a Pick A Part half off sale for $100 and then it cost me a third of that just to change the pan gasket.
