Title: Gas to water conversion
Post by: kaydle on May 31, 2008, 12:20:38 AM
I know there are alot of people who have played mechanic for a long time, so you know what your doing.  Unless your Tim the tool man.
Seriously how probable is it to convert a gas powered vehicle to water power?
How much work would it take if it is?
About how much time and money do you think it would take?
Finally, should I risk it on my baby?

Not water in it's liquid form, it' gaseous form would be another matter.
Too dangerous at present to contemplate.
I think that hydrogen, be it liquid or gas, will be the final solution when the present system finally allows it.

Hi Kaydle and D.R.Ball, that conversion is used with fuel, called oxyhydrogen. Increases fuel economy 20% or better. So far from what I know it cost about $65.00 materials. I have half of the 183 page book, printer flipped out the other day. I will be meeting up with winger in Seattle in about a week, hopefully I will get the other half of book. Fred     :)    I will be doing FREE everybody loves that word, O.B.D. 2 system scanner checks if needed starting Tuesday I-5. So if eng. light on let me know.    :hypno:

I have been experimenting with this, they are hydrogen generators and you can search them online.  I have had some succesful tests, but willdo alot more testing before attempting to put this into a car. Some of these you can buy pre-built.  The beauty of the Pinto is room can be made in the engine bay to accomodate a fairly large generator(or bubbler) If my tests work out I will attempt an installation with the addition of a autofeed water vessle.  I caution anyone attempting this, hydrogen is highly explosive, as is gasoline, just like when gas cars first showed up they were not the safest things to drive and most  people were affraid of them.  If you are generating hydrogen and feeding it into your air intake, you had better not be generating hydrogen when the engine is off or before starting, you may see your hood take flight if you have built up hydrogen.  Also be aware of the dangers of a backfire into the generator.  Just don't make the news blowing up your Pinto, we all ready have enough bad publicity, work out any bugs before attempting such an endevour. Wiring, check valves, relays, pressure relief valves, safeties are of most importance.  20-25% savings on gas will not be worth your life or a fire ball.
O.K. what are the drawbacks other than the explosion issue.
Great idea for florida, but if you live up north, you had better build one that is removable, because water freezes.

Here is a link to one site http://water4gas.com/2books.htm?hop=kevinkanny all though I do not recommend using a mason jar.
