Title: '77 Cruising wagon stripes
Post by: rainbow on June 23, 2003, 01:19:08 PM
Does anybody have any information re: the striping kits for the '77 Pinto Cruising wagon? We bought our Pinto new in 1977; now starting to restore it. If striping kits are not available has anyone had any luck painting these stripes on the car? How do you match the colors with the original, etc.?
Hello..... is there anybody out there?

Another Cruising wagon owner! Yay!

When we were restoring ours we took alot of pictures of the stripes and did so many measurements just to get it close to right. If you still have the stripes on the car, I would recommend doing the same.

Then in the paint process we used our notes and marked start/end marks and a rough angle of the curves. Painted each color on. The final outcome worked out nicely and looked like it did how it orignally came. Except for the front where we didnt like it going over the hood.

How we matched the paint? We looked in the door well at the not so faded stripes and compared them to colors in a paint book to get a close match.

I'll look around for the papers with the measurements on it for our 78 wagon.

edit: I looked for the paper work and I couldnt find anything, if you really need the measurements I could go out and measure mine. but the front will be different then the orignal.
