Title: what speedo cable length?
Post by: turbo74pinto on May 27, 2008, 06:20:59 PM
im looking to see what length the cables were in c4 pintos.  i probably should have just asked 77turbopinto.  no parts stores around here, that i deal with, can get it.  this will be used for my t5 swap.  should i just try to find a used one??

I want to say my 73 (with a T5) is using the original speedo cable.  I do not think it was changed when the swap was done.  Is yours too short?

You called??

As far as the later Pintos: The 4spd cars have a longer speedo cable because the gear is on the right side; the C3-C4 have the gear on the left.

yes, mine is way too long and like 77turbopinto said, it was on the right.  plus, mine was burned by the header that was on the old motor.  does anyone know the length of the cable i need?  or maybe have an extra used one they want to get rid of??

I have a few speedo cables that came with a bunch parts I bought a couple years ago.  I never paid any mind to the lengths but if I run across one that is shorter than my known 4spd cable I have in my garage I will let you know.
