Title: What other engines are compatable?

I am making a race car, unfortunately the engine is trashed on the car and none of the scrap yards carry engines older than 80. Are there any other engines that are compatible with this? I believe the car is a 78 pinto.

well it would help to know what the engine is in your car currently?

the 2.0(ranger not pinto) -2.3-2.5 are all very close. and will bolt up 74-80 pinto 74-93 mustang  79-84 courier  82?-96 ranger 86?-94 areo star van 8?-90 torus and the there Mercury and mazda counter parts.

The Taurus 2.3 won't fit, it is an HSC pushrod engine like the tempo. Any other 2.3 OHC will work
